Sunderland bid £12m for O'Shea, Gibson & Brown

£12m is just about a fair price for Brown and Gibson. To ask for O'Shea too, they can feck off. For all 3 (not that I want O'Shea to be sold in any circumstance) I hope we ask for at least £20m. Realistically I can see us accepting £9-10m for Gibson and Brown.

I am confused. Are they saying 12M each for Brown and Gibson or combined?
I think 10M for Gibson is fair, 11M for Brown is also fair. I will take maybe 12M for O'Shea too.
Anything else will be a joke, more or less.

Brown is worth virtually nothing - wouldnt be suprised if it was a free transfer.

It really wouldn't be.

That's some massive over-valuation

12m is a good offer, no doubt. We lose some versatility if O'Shea leaves but the twins and Jones should be enough to cover that part.

In an ideal world I'd rather see O'Shea retire in a United shirt. He has been a loyal servant. Gibson I feel for - to a certain extent - as he need games to further develop, but will most likely not get that if there's a major overhaul incoming to strengthen our European ambitions.

Edit: Correction - O'Shea had an extension to 2014 only a couple of months ago.

are you sure?

I remember there was talk of it but Im seeing various people saying it was never confirmed and that the club decided to wait until end of season.

But it seems to be 100% right that Gibson and Brown were going into last year of contract anyway.

Yeah, we should tell Bruce to stuff it unless he coughs up 30m for the trio!

Heck, let it be 40m! We must be strong in these difficult times.

So you're valuing those three players at £33m in total? Mental.

Well, I think O'Shea's definitely worth 12m. I hope we don't sell him, though.

The other two: Gibson- 5/6m. Brown- 2/3.

£11M for Wes Brown, 32 year old injury prone defender who has not played much at all since 2009, seriously?

10m for shoot? You're having a laugh.

I don't think we could get much for Brown, but even O'Shea and Gibson together alone are worth more than £12m in my opinion. This is just going by other recent transfer fees - look at the kinds of players Liverpool paid around £5m for when Benitez was around!

Good grief! Some crazy numbers there.

15m would be a good price for the three of them.

I am not a fan of O'Shea and have never believed he is United quality. A personal opinion that isn't popular. Phil Neville was a far more talented utility player and he was offloaded for no money at all.

11m for a perma-crock defender in the last year of his contract?

Brown actually deserves first team football to be fair to him, I'd say thanks to him for his great service and accept the offer.

O'Shea I personally wouldn't sell, we've already lost one RB this summer and while the twins may share the spot I think there's still room for O'Shea in the squad, added to the fact that he can cover at LB, CB & even MF if needed.

Gibson I thin kwould be a decent player if he got regular first team action but he's not going to get that here.

£11m for Brown, £12m for O'shea, £10m for Gibson.

Brown - 3 million

Oshea 6 million

Gibson 6 million

Although Oshea's value to us as a squad player is so much more than his worth purely as a footballer.

Nice try.

You are all laughing at me, but I am dead serious. I mean look at the prices teams are paying for English talent? They are in demand right now.
These players have won multiple championships, they know and have the winning mentality, having them in your dressing room is a bonus. They will bring a professional atmosphere about them to you team. Something money can't buy. All I am asking for is a fair compensation.

Totally. 10m for Wes and Gibbo is realistic for both parties. Hope we won't sell JOS.

If Henderson is worth £20m then JOS is worth £10m alone!!

Yes for talent. People who have many years left to play. Not someone who has very few and always been injury prone.

You dont half make some strange posts

Realistically we'll get about half of any of those valuations

The 'English tax' only applies to youngish players. Standard fee of £7m? How? What has he done to justify that?

What has Brown done? Lets not derail this thread, Brown alone has so many PL and CL medals that, you will have to go decades back to find players who played for Arsenal just to equal his number of medals.
What has Brown done? I can see him playing at the top level for the next 5 years. That is value right there.

Young English talent is worth a lot - big difference to a 31 year old in the last year of his contact who is injured half the time.

Like I said before, he could well be a free transfer or a couple of million maximum.

Brown is 31, had persistent injury problems and has looked on the wane since the CL final v Chelsea. He's also on a high wage which would reduce the fee to a mid table side like Sunderland.

Your valuations are ridiculous.

Brown, and Gibson in their final years of contract, and Brown on around 80k a week. The low fee makes sense as Sunderland would have to pick up Brown's massive salary. I don't see O'Shea moving, he's on a massive salary at United and would be a massive surprise if Sunderland matched his salary, and he accepted the move.

How about being our first choice RB in a double winning season?

If I were Wenger I'd stick in a cheeky bid, Brown is actually a good defender, and having missed Jones he'd be a decent, experienced and cheap option.
