Sunderland bid £12m for O'Shea, Gibson & Brown

I can't suss you out. Are you a WUM or just delusional? Paul Scholes was a "great great player". Not Wes Brown and John O'Shea.

Moving on... I'm sad that we are selling O'Shea. Has a lot to offer us IMO. Unless Fergie already has a youngster in mind to take up the "jack of all trades" role in the team. He usually plans the sale of players pretty well and John is getting on a bit.

Gibson and Brown are surplus and its probably in their best interest to move on and get regular games.

There's more to just playing well to being a great player. It's being a role model, it's giving your all, and it's being a player who is always there when needed.

O'Shea and Brown never moaned. They both come through and did fantastic jobs. Some of the memories both have given me will literally never be forgotten. They are a part of our proud proud history and both have made hundreds of appearances, just to see them in another teams shirt will be horrible.

In light of their service it is probably only fair to give them the opportunity to play as much as they can as they enter the last few years of their careers. They've won everything there is to win.

It would be selfish to hang onto them and take the loyalty for granted. Especially in Brown's case. I'm sure he wasn't happy last season playing the odd game against Crawley or Southampton.

O'Shea still has something to offer but even then he has a chance to play as much as possible having already had a medal count that puts most "stars" to shame.

If they want to move on, fair enough, we won't stop them. I just think both could offer more, and it's such a shame to see them go.

I like the fact that we are keeping Gibson, we couldn't play all season with Carrick, Fletcher and Anderson alone, especially as Anderson will likely be injured for half of it anyway.

Gibson's personal terms with Sunderland proving a stumbling block is not an indication us keeping him next season. I still reckon he'll go.

 We don't need him. He'll be gone if he can agree personal terms anywhere

re: OShea - the delay in his transfer could possibly be linked us bidding for nasri?

Ah, I thought we were blocking the move. We should let him go when we sign a midfielder, not sooner.

Are you theorizing that we might be holding off on selling a defender before we buy a midfielder or are you theorizing that if we sell John O'Shea, Nasri might not want to come to United?

Retarded rumour of Arse being in for O'Shea. The natural jump being swap deal, etc, etc.

brown is 31, not many years left in him now as a professional footballer and he deserves to go somewhere else and play more regularly. sad to see him leaving but good luck to wes..nearly 15 years as united's first team player is an incredible achievement. shame about all those injuries, he could went on to achieve much more if not for that..

I whitewashed my entire house, did a fantastic job in it and didn't moaned (too much) about it but I wouldn't compare myself with Michelangelo, Leonardo or Giotto. We appreciate their work but lets not overrate them too much.

Apparently Gibsons 40k pw wages are proving a problem for Sunderland

so sad to see o shea go....

just announced on SSN that Matt Mills (who??) is being signed by Leicester from Reading for 5 million

i know wages play a part and that but as usual we are underselling O Shea and Brown i reckon

This many changes in one close-season is highly uncharacteristic of Sir Alex.

Wants to win the Champions League before retiring, and a relatively young and talented young team to his successor. Not uncharacteristic at all whatsoever.
