Sunderland bid £12m for O'Shea, Gibson & Brown

If we have accepted the bid it means Fergie has decided to let all 3 go, it's now just a case of where they go.

Last whispers I heard was that Gibson and Brown could be Everton bound with a deal regarding Rodwell. Probaly bollocks.

O'Shea is surely better then Sunderland.

Sunderland are a top 10 team and building a good squad. If we're talking as a starter, I think it's his level..

Would hate it the first time we have to play against him..

O'Shea could easily start for a club like Everton. Sunderland is an odd choice.

Much better chance of tying up a regular first team place at Sunderland though, Everton have a better team all round. I'd assume he'd want to play most games for the remaining years of his career, after being generally an utility reserve for us.

OShea would walk into the Everton first team

Reports in Ireland this morning are linking O Shea with Arsenal.

Yeah just heard something on the radio about that, they didn't seem to have too much information on the story though.

Probably just the media putting two and two together, we are apparently bidding for Nasri, Arsenal need a defender, O'Shea is apparently set to leave, ah he must be going to Arsenal as part of the Nasri deal.

Yep, another linked Berbatov with Arsenal yesterday as "the key" to the Nasri deal...

Who pays these mugs?

fecking hell, I dint expect to lose O'Shea, especially when he signed an extension about a year ago. I'm sure all three of them must be gutted.

For what its worth - rumours up here in the North East are that all three players have agreed personal terms with Sunderland and that a fee is agreed for each.

Apparently the players are on holiday and are thinking it over - which suggests to me that they're waiting to see if any other teams come in for them.

I suspect O' Shea has been made aware that he'll play fewer games this year than last, especially given the signing of Jones and the fact that Fabio played so well at teh back end of last year.

The other two have probably been told the same. The club doesnt accept bids for players it wants to keep.

Time to move on for all three, especially if there's a few young lads coming through to fill the squad player gaps.

O'Shea deserves to start more regularly and he won't get that at this club, it'll be a good move for him to move to Sunderland. Although he could easily go to any club bar top6 and start there. It'll be weird watching him play for another team though.

He'd get less money at Everton.

Plus - Sunderland seem to be aiming fairly high this year and so far their business in the transfer market has been good. I also think they'll sign a few more because the squad was decimated last year.

Seems it'll be another summer for Everton where without pselling their top players they'll have no money to spend.

I personally wonder how long Moyes will be willing or able to continue performing miracles.

Its clear who the most ambitious of the two clubs are.

I almost can't believe Harry isn't interested. He wanted Phil Neville quite bad and O'shea is a similar player in terms of what he brings to the team.

It's kind of odd O'Shea is regarded more highly by the fans now he is being sold. I wonder if it's his footballing ability or posters are just being sentimental.

The gulf if there even is one between Sunderland & Everton will be a lot smaller next season i'd imagine, Sunderland are making a lot of interesting buys this summer & are looking like they are going to mean business next season. The 3 lads wouldn't be making a bad decision at all going to Sunderland imo.

And replaced him with Jones, a player with 13 years ahead of him. I wouldn't be so surprised, sounds like good business. Typical SAF too, renewing his team.

By the same token, it'd be disappointing if a player touted as a future England captain assumed the role of utility man...

It's not sentimentality Sults.

Any sensible fan will have seen him for what he has been throughout his United career - solid, dependable, highly adaptable, with a fantastic attitude. What's not to like?

Where the feck does Everton's money go ? You always seem to hear about them being in debt but they sell players for high prices, they never seem to spend that big and they are always certain to stay up as long as Moyes is in charge.

Very weird club.

Sentimental for most I guess, he's been reliable and likeable. His footballing ability won't be missed so much.

In 3 years yes, but whilst he's still so Young it's perfect.

Dunno about that - there is a danger that we turn him into a jack of all trades player. If he's that highly rated a centre half, we should give him his chance to develop in that position.

To an extent, O'Shea suffered from never nailing down a position early in his career.

I'd posit that he's been our most consistent right full back over the past 5 years. He's also been less error prone than Evra in the past two seasons.

He is a very solid & dependable player that rarely makes or made a costly mistake no matter what position he lines out in. That's footballing ability & it could well be missed if he goes.

The odd thing about people happily waving O'Shea off is that they're likely to be the same ones bemoaning the loss of vital experience in Scholes, Neville, VDS...
