Paul fecking Pogba, still hasn’t really sunk in yet!

It's going to make "rooting for Sunderland" to get relegated pretty tough now. You always want the United boys to do well.

They've got O'shea, Brown (not sure if either of them have retired - I think Brown has?), McNair and Love. Plus if there's anyone else I'm missing/or if they sign/take one or 2 more of ours loan.

Wes was released, not retired. Though he may be thinking about it now.

Do people honestly think that we will get anything close to £10 million for these two?

It'll be £2-3 million for McNair and £500k-1 million for Love.

About time we start shipping out some of those non-academy-aged players who will never break through at United. Interested to see whether McNair will build a solid bottom-half PL team career. Doubt it, I think he’ll end up at Championship in a couple of years, Love probably one level lower.

moyes in taking shite from old club shocker.

No surprises really. I expect Januzaj, Schweinsteiger, Blackett, Keane and Wilson to also leave permanently in the coming weeks and Pereira, CBJ, Tuanzebe to go out on loan.

Somebody in their forum said it was for £8m apparently?! If that's true, brilliant deal on our end and pretty awful on theirs.

Their forum should be "ready to go down".

Fair play to José for letting these players know they can't stay and also for finding them a pl team. It was never going to be certain for them to continue on this level. Hope their fee will soften the punch our finances got.

What would we get for this pair in today's market? Mcnair maybe 8m, Love 2m?

Not sure what we are getting, but even if we get the Sunderland chairman drunk, we're not getting 8 million for McNair

I'm getting Love and Riley confused, which one looked half decent when they got a chance last season and which one looked shite?

I used to get him confused with that Dutch player we have. I also used to think when watching our matches "Love is Blind"

McNair would be a decent pickup for them as long as Moyes doesn't play him at CB.

Just when I thought the day couldn't get any worse

Kone as good as gone and we're signing players no fecker's ever heard of.........not even in Manchester.

I don't normally drink through the week but I'm being tested tonight.

From RTG forum. Made me chuckle that post.

I just noticed this as I was looking at Sundarland on Fantasy PL.....they have 15 outfield players on there, 4 of whom are questionable for this weekend...

That Sunderland forum is having a Junventuz style meltdown  prob stressing over nothing, McNair is a long term CM not CB imo

Can you blame them?

Moyes will play him CB. They could lose Kone and haven't even signed M'Villa.

Half of them are, the other half seem convinced they'll be world beaters, it's the most bipolar forum I've ever seen.

Jordon Ibe went for 15. 8 is a reasonable fee for someone that has played a handful of games for a top club.

Ooh, I got quoted there. Hello SMB!

I guess some Sunderland fans might compare it to the likes of Evans and Bardsley, but Evans did well for them in the Championship, while Bardsley had Championship and SPL experience. McNair I think will go on to have a solid career in the Premier League eventually (think Richardson, Simpson, Bardsley, etc.), but Love is basically a Under-21s veteran who simply outgrew the Under-21s, and leaves with a little League One experience and an awful Europa League performance against FC Midtjylland.

McNair would probably be better-trusted as a midfielder, but is he really going to displace Kirchhoff (who is class), vice-captain (captain most of the time) Cattermole, or Rodwell? Probably not. So I think he will be played at right-back - Billy Jones is woeful at times so I think he might even start immediately. But he's going to have to learn the position quickly.

We should probably have some sort of sell-on clause, with McNair at least. I remember we sold Michael Keane for a pittance, and now there are rumours of Leicester wanting to buy him for £18 million.

McNair
- I would prefer to loan him out but a permanent move is probably the best for him.
- A move to Sunderland is the perfect move for him too.
- We should get at least £8m for him or otherwise we're again terrible sellers.

Love
- To sell him is the right decision for club and him.
- I don't think he's good enough for Sunderland.
- He should get £1-2m for him.

Mike Phelan could be their permanent manager. Which is better.

You are right, plus they are massively short of players.

We could easily send a dozen players to them, although a few like CBJ, Adnan, Pereira could go on loan.

I think it's fair to say that Ibe was far more impressive for Liverpool than McNair was for us, not to mention he's a winger which will always go for more money since they'll likely be involved in more goals and assists. Sunderland should look to use McNair the same way Northern Ireland do if they want to get the most out of him. I don't think he has the physique to ever play consistently as a cb in the Premier League. He could do a decent job as a rb. He had few okay performances for us there. Cdm is definitely his best position though, basing that on when I watched him in the reserves also. His positioning is pretty good and he's a good passer. Donald Love for the reported £2m is awful business. Love made what 3 sub appearances in the first team? Not to mention he looked miles out of his depth in all of them. Based on what I've seen of him in the reserves he looks like an average midtable Championship player currently. He could improve of course but it'd be worrying if they were genuinely considering him as a potential first choice for this season.
