Summer Transfer Window 2017

are you purposely leaving out the "no new rumours" part just so you can have a go?

i don't care if the signings aren't done by the time the plane leaves. I'd like to know that targets selected in March are at least progressing by mid-july. I only tentatively hope the signings come quickly.

I don't give much credibility to rumours. I don't see why we should include what some journalist has pulled out of his arse in a serious conversation.

we will get there with the transfers - we've had a few issues obviously

think Griezeman was obviously target #1 and it was always a risk with the Atletico transfer ban hovering - means we were working from Scratch on Morata.

We had Lindelof and Keane lined up before sealing the deal for the Swede

I wonder was Perisic first choice? I'd have been shocked if Bernardo Silva was not on the list

Matic is dependent on Chelsea signing other midfielders - this probably isn't going to happen anytime soon if at all

i'd be very happy with the BBC updating us on potential deals like they've done with lacazette and so on. It's something fans can hang on to and feel like progression is occurring.

And so on? There's been very little activity so far this summer. Liverpool have got Salah and are in the rumour stage with Keita, We have Lindelof and are in the rumour stage with Morata and Peresic. Chelsea have signed nobody. Arsenal have a freebie and are at a similar stage to us/Morata with Lacazette. City have signed two and let 10 go. Tottenham have done absolutely nothing.

We're operating in the same market as everyone else and making the same or better progress. Fans need to calm down and realise it's not just a case of stumping up a ridiculous fee and overpaying every year.

The transfer window is locked and bolted. The inmates are getting restless, rioting will ensue in due course.

Waiting for the "We are happy with the current squad" and " Giving a contract to Rooney was like signing a new player"

I have a theory, and it might be far fetched.Ed and Glazers are business men right, would they speculate in waiting with transfers to save money on the weekly wages? We are talking about alot of money even if waiting to sign 4-5 weeks.

By far the most frustrating thing about this summer is not that we have only signed one player, it's that the rumoured targets are so, so underwhelming compared to expectations after securing the Europa.

I cannot wrap my head round how Morata and Perisic are going to fix our appalling attack.

We scored less than 60 goals on the PL last season. That's shocking.

If nothing happens before preseason, I think there will be a time soon where Ed moves on down the list. Too much stand still from Monaco, Real Madrid while Lukaku seems to be gone soon.

Belotti will probably be signed, along with a last minute Matic and an expensive Perisic

Eric Dier is the worst link. I refuse to believe that Jose sees him as the answer in midfield.

I thought the Bayakokokoko deal was close?

I still suspect that City only bought Silva because they got wind of our interest. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't really intend to play him much.

In reality the wages are per season, not per week. After all, they still get paid if not playing or injured. Wages/wk is just something the media use as a status of the player.

For all the perception about it being a stinker of a window, it's interesting to compare against last year's timings.

Lindelof was signed around the time Bailly was.

Ibra was signed very early July, but obviously much easier to sort as a free agent.
Miky was around the 8th July
Pogba wasn't until early August.

So if we did get a deal or 2 signed this week, as was the original plan, pre tour, we're pretty close to last year's position.
A big If I grant you. Perhaps the tournament last summer took people's minds off things a little more.

I haven't been on here much in 2 weeks due to being busy with work, and I've missed absolutely nothing! Get the finger out Ed son.

Pepe just signed for Besiktas... Absolutely insane. He's one of the top 5 CBs in the world

I thought the Bayakokokoko deal was close?
who knows.....I'd be surprised if Monaco decided to sell many more of their side

if that#s the case Monaco would be doing a good job of dismantling the team if they allow players like Bakayoko/Fabinho/Mendy to follow Silva out the door - if you are M'Bappe why would you stay at a side where you aren't going to be able to compete with PSG

I'm absolutely sick and tired of refreshing this site several times a day to see that there's no new information about any of our 'targets' despite their threads growing every minute. Just same arguments recycling itself. It's just annoying me for some reason

So go do something else. I'm heading out of town for a week at the beach. I'll probably sit in the sand phone in hand refreshing twitter and the caf the entire time. Except when I'm 20 miles out to sea fishing. No signal.

There's really minimal talk isn't there? Thought this was an entertainment business. Entertain the muppets (me included)!

After Lindelof and Lukaku, if we can finally get someone to truly replace Carrick, an attacking left back and a left winger we can probably challenge for the league.

I am still hoping Chelsea swoop in and get Lukaku but if we get lumbered with him Jose will need a #10 as someone has to be close to gather up his first touch and prevent attacks constantly stalling. It's at this point that the doubly soured relations with Real Madrid are a shame as James would be useful in this regard.

I watched Everton quite a few times a season as one of my few football fanatic mates in the US is a fan. And this notion that Lukaku is actually that poor is way off the mark.

I've see Ibra, Mikhi and Martial lose the ball more often than Lukaku. Not even touching on comparisons to Wayne

I was expecting atleast 3-4 players to leave this summer. But apart from Rooney, there have been very few solid links to our players. If we are planning to sign atleast two more players, we have to sell a few. Are we waiting to finish all our signings before we sell?

James will have very few takers at the price Madrid are quoting for him. We might still get him if the player chooses us over others. We just have to match the other team's bid. But the bigger question is whether our manager wants the player. With the Lukaku signing coming out of nowhere, I'm no longer sure who our actual targets are.

From the start I only predicted about 2-3 players leaving only. I think we'll sign 2 and sell one in the remaining summer, then any other player leaving after this will be compensated by a new signing.

Anyone remember that board from last season that had Pogba on it? That was muppet-esque stuff! I want more of that:lol:

I really think its gonna be lindelof, lukaku, perisic and matic. 185M a new record spend. Two decent players in every position with ddg romero, valencia darmian, lindelof smalling, jones bailly, shaw rojo, matic carrick, herrera fellaini, pogba & Mata in the 10 , Mhikitarian Lingard, Martial Perisic, Lukaku Rashford.

Maybe we should be looking at improving the front three but with an already record spend and nobody really excellent like griezmann available right away maybe we will hang on, rather than spending 60-70 on James or someone risky. People will say that we 'cant have fellaini and lingard in the squad' but mourinho has already shown beyond doubt he doesn't share that opinion. Really feels like this business makes sense. As ever I hope I'm wrong, we have cleared 1m off the wage bill and if we can pull off a move for a seriously brilliant players then I'm all for it. Not all for wasting money and wages on players that don't fit with mourinho

We still need a DM and another attacker preferrably a prolific one. The Lukaku capture coming out of nowhere gives me hope that our actual targets are unknown because the Perisic/Matic links genuinely scare me.

Except for Perisic we really do have no idea who we're chasing. Press are so clueless! :( Not even Perisic is a sure thing, today Skysports low key mentioned that a deal for Perisic is getting closer.

How many watched Tuanzebe in DM role last season? I think he did pretty and if we don't sign DM I wouldn't mind him in that role. He will less likely get CB opportunities if Jones/Smalling stay fit. I don't think we must get 50M DM. Pogba/Herrera to start, Carrick/Fellaini backup, Tuanzebe/Blind/TFM/etc depth.

We need an experienced player. Imagine him against some of the best teams in Europe in the CL.

Same type of people that said CBJ should be thrown straight into the first team and he couldn't even crack Wolves. A few matches in this forum performing at mediocre levels and doing the odd good things makes you so overblown. Tuanzebe play well, in meaningless, deadrubber matches. Good technical ability, etc. Same could be said of Johny Evans, a player who played consistently and was good technically at United until he lost all confidence and a rock of a partner in either Rio or Vida and couldn't make the proper step up to be an established first-teamer in a side that needs to challenge and win major trophies.

Probably be late in the window since most of who we sell will be heading to mid table or lower clubs.

You don't play him against the best in Europe. Read the last part: Pogba/Herrera to start, Carrick/Fellaini backup, Tuanzebe/Blind/TFM/etc depth.

Buying central/defensive midfielder raises lots of questions for me.
Presuming that pogba and herrera will be always starters and pogba will not play number 10 then we have interesting situation.
Mourinho likes to change between 433 and 4231 especially in home matches where we play with miki or mata on no10 position.
So new midfielder will be often on the bench? That is why i think that we will buy more squad rotation player for that position , not some big( and expensive) name.

Very surprised at the lack of links for Napoli's midfielders in general. They played excellent football last season. Dominated games and that midfield looked good against Madrid's.

Not Napoli but I like the look of Milosevic-Savic from a few games.

We should be after Keïta or Diawara or both

----------Diawara--------
------Keïta-----Pogba----

-----------Axel-----------
-----Herrera---Pereira--

That would be a midfield I'd say us play 4-3-3 with and win alot of shit
