Summer Transfer Tweets 2016

Reckon this thread will be rather quiet during the Euros. Would be silly to read "Player X in talks with Club A" if it's obvious that they aren't and stuck with their international team.

Chelsea have made a recent enquiry for Dimitri Payet, but West Ham United reportedly want €70m for the player

Can tell it's false when West Ham ask for euros even though they're English.

Why would that make it fake? It's a French source reporting it so it would be posting in its currency.

Being a football fan in the summer is probably the worst thing to be in fairness. It's worse than reading something like Hello magazine, the same amount of substance. "How to tuck your tummy", "Manchester United linked with the 132049th player and are preparing a world record bid, still preparing a bid from Vidal (3 seasons ago)."
It's exactly like that. What a wonderful comparison!

Can't see him going straight from Athletico.
Yes, It would be very difficult, besides he has 65 m euros release clause, so the player should force.I really like him, a lot of personality and character for his age.

We are after him, thats not a hunch.

Are we stupid enough to spend a lot of time on a Real Madrid star at the age of 27?

- Real Madrid will be happy to keep him.
- Gareth Bale would be happy to stay.
- He is at the peak of his career.

The combination will make it extremely difficult to pull off. And if we do, it will be for a fantasy sum providing little value for the club.

We are. We will buy world class this summer.

I personally think Ibra will be the only massive superstar signing we make this summer.
If that is the case, I hope Martial and Rashford show as much promise as last season. The players we are being linked with strongly are not ones that make me think we are going to be miles better this season.

And that's fine imo. Mourinho can make a few under the radar type buys to round things off nicely. Embolo, Gomes, Bailey et all would do the trick.

a change of manager could make a world of difference, even more than the players brought in at times.

IMO With the money he has at his disposal, his pulling power and his history in the transfer market I doubt he will only make under the radar signings like Embolo. He will buy players with potential/ under the radar players since I believe he's planning for the long term. But I believe Woodward and him will go after some big names and Zlatan might be just the start.

I'm sure they will indeed go after a variety of names like Bale, Neymar, Pogba et al - but they may not land any because of the individual player circumstances and the premium fees attached to getting them relative to what Mourinho wants them to do within his formation and strategy. My view is that you don't need hollywood signings to win leagues and trebles - you need individuals who have the capacity to integrate into a broader football ethos of winning through teamwork. Mourinho's Porto and Inter sides are examples of this, whereas things were a bit more tumescent at Madrid.

Now that you mention inter, I find his MO is also not just to sign star players but also to sign good players relatively cheap who would follow his instructions perfectly and would gel with the team. Though currently the market is so inflated that even the good out going players like the Snejiders and Ozils of that time will be expensive in the current market. I guess this pushes managers to look for under the radar deals which you were referring to.

It will be interesting to see who we finally end up with given we have loads of cash, a star manager but an inflated market and hardly any stars who are looking to move clubs. With what Leiciester has done last season, it has really forced clubs to second guess their transfer strategies. Wonder if it has had any impact on Mourinho and Woodward.

RE: Darmian Tweet.

I'm happy with this. If he is played as a solid RB rather than a Wingback I think he is our best option in that position. He struggled last season to hold his place down as he was woeful going forward but that is to be expected when you've not played that role often. Valencia is slightly better going forward but much worse as an all out defender in my opinion.

Not all top players play in the euros, or copa.
So we should still be able to sign players.... we should atleast get some muppet tweets to entertain ourselves with.

Try and keep things to journos/media outlets rather than someone who may have heard a commentator of a certain nationality say something which is probably regurgitating what that local paper said.

Oh, apologies.

That same tweep has said that kicker has a report that Leipzig has signed timo werner

I couldn't agree more. Darmian strong and solid. When Shaw pushes forward on the left I can see Darmian tucking in on the right of a back three to ensure that we are not defensively exposed whilst pushing forward. He's not a small lad either is he? Jose likes physically imposing players. I think that he ticks the boxes.

Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are queuing up to try to sign according to the telegraph.

Here's their actual tweet. You should probably try avoid posting tweets from 'Lexus7Sanchez' and the likes just for the credibility - sometimes those types of accounts make up fake tweets citing imaginary sources.
