By "your entire argument" do you mean my opinion about Valencia? You seem quite upset about this.....are you related to him? He has played as a right back (in fits and starts) for a while now, and he has been found wanting on occasion, been moved back and forth between midfield and has been fairly decent in either position. No arguments there, I simply do not see him as a top RB player and if we can get one, my opinion is that we should. It wasn't even a controversial opinion until he played well in a couple of matches in recent weeks.

Darmian played more as our RB last season but started to look shit under Van Gaal, we didn't have many other options to be fair.
I'd like to think that you would resort to a more nature argument than the 'are you related to him' thing.

I thought wrong .

Don't care how much he costs to be honest. We're desperate for a CB who's very comfortable on the ball and can cover ground. He's massive (6'5") physically dominant but is also super athletic like Zouma.

If we stick with a back 4, a CB partnership of Zouma & Koulibaly who are both freaks of nature and Kante sitting just in front of them will be fantastic. Teams will have a hell of a time getting through. With Cristensen (one of the best CB's in Germany last season) comes back from loan next summer Conte will be able to play his preferred back 3.

Still need another fullback, though...:nervous:

And Christensen is actually familiar with playing in a system where you have a back 3, since that's how the Danish national team play. He is pretty good with the ball and can drive it forward and almost play as a DM when attacking. So he will be a huge asset for you.

Again, that's not an argument. Just a light hearted question because you've got really bent out of shape about this opinion.

He's massive (6'5")
On a serious note, is Koulibaly actually even close to that height. I've seen pictures of him and Albiol standing next to each other and he's a solid inch shorter, with Albiol standing about 6ft3.

No he certainly isn't 6ft5. He's also surprisingly average/poor in the air, and while quick, he can also be rather clumsy. He is great on the ball though and still relatively young for a player in his position. He'd be a good signing for Conte.

@JPRouve , you're a Monaco fan right? I know he was on loan at Toulouse, but is he really good enough for Arsenal?

I don't know, I don't really watch Toulouse but from the little I have seen their defense was poor at the exception of Issa Diop.

So the guy from Get French Football is ITK now? Wasn't it an account for translating french transfer news before?

Yeah, fair enough. I couldn't remember anything about him in the 1-2 games of Toulouse I've watched. Just seems a very odd transfer, unless he was highly rated at Monaco.

He was highly rated as a youngster but he isn't a youngster anymore and currently he would be the 5th or 6th choice for Monaco.

You really have to wonder how the scouting departement of Arsenal came up with the idea of including Schär in their back up plan. The guy didn't even make the first XI in a nearly relegated Bundesliga side despite poor alternatives. The semi solid semi shaky Euro tournament surely doesn't make up for that.

What a nothing article. Mitten seems to be floundering without the contacts he had for previous regimes!

Does this guy ever not put a Real Madrid based spin on things?

It's how these journalists get their sources. Favourable coverage constantly in return for the odd tidbit of information.

The news comes from French media France Football but Tisserand is still close to Saint-Etienne. Quite surprising, especially as he really grew into a central defender progressively last year at Toulouse and was just a right-back before. France Football says it's just to add squad depth though that Arsenal could be interested.

According to Balague every top player wanted to join Madrid this summer but Madrid didn't want them.

That's just weird. Why not have him go out on loan to a foreign league, learn how to be more like the sort of goalkeeper Pep wants, then return and fight for the number one spot?

As much as I don't rate him and think he's a knob, the way he's being treated if that's true is kind of a bit off.

He strikes me as the egotistical type, he's already the best in his head so doesn't feel the need to improve!

Ref "Told not to expect new faces" article

Do you think thats through choice?, or we have spent our cash (or rather as much as Ed is willing to)
