Atletico would be stupid to sell him. He's a good talent.

It could just be a case of Arsenal briefing the media to match what is a likely briefing on Valencia's side about Liverpool's interest?

I'd be all over that for 45m

Totally agree, all these great young defenders we have been linked with like Marquinhos, Varane, Stones etc. I am very happy and impressed by Bailly so far but for me Jiminez is a proper defender not all this tikka takka ball playing crap everybody seems to be after nowadays. I think in 2/3 years he will be the defender people are all talking about as the best in the world. No disrespect to Arsenal but considering how well his club are doing, he should only be moving to one of Europes elite clubs and there is no reason for him to move at all at the moment…..but I would love him here, obviously I really really rate him.

No fecking way Gimenez leaves for Arsenal in my opinion based on nothing, so i should know.

Atletico won't sell anyone that important. Godin is getting older and gimenez is his natural successor for club and country. I doubt he wants to leave either

Plus I'm sure better teams than arsenal would bid for him too. Us, Chelsea, PSG maybe even Bayern.

I swear Arsenal don't want to spend any money but just appear like they'll do so they lowball for everyone and then complain about the market.

Defensively, Valencia will be found out against top wingers. Attacking-wise he's not too hard to stop by a good defender too, since he only has one foot. Darmian is clearly as good as gone and TFM isn't a right back at all. Much better to have two proper full backs who are top class, surely?
He's played against Sanchez,Hazard and Sterling (a week after he'd scored a hatrick) and handled them all sufficiently.

How many hoops does he have to jump before his haters realize what is right in front of their eyes?

If he plays the majority of the season, I am pretty certain he will 7-8 assists in the league alone. Shaw will probably have 2-3. As for having the skills to go past people like Giggs had - practically noone in the league has ever had that. But it doesn't change the fact that he is more one-footed than Valencia is.

Well the only way to know for sure is to see as the season develops. I think he'll make some glaring errors and be dropped eventually (unless we have no other options)
. He's not up to scratch positionally for a top defender in my opinion but time will tell.

If Mourinho is looking at a new RB it seems he's seen this also.

But there is nothing fo prove that Mourinho is looking for a new RB other than stories in Marca and some other papers. The only thing Mourinho did say about transfers was that he wanted 4 players. By my estimate,we have 4,and no new RB signed.

What he has however done us trust Valencia as his number 1 ,played him every game and given him leadership responsibilities by giving him the captaincy when Rooney is subbed. That is the only conclusive evidence. Everything else is basically grasping for straws by people that have written off Valencia at the start of every season and every managerial change and are proven wrong again and again.

People said he would be dropped for Rafael . He wasn't. They said Darmian would take his place. He hasn't . Yet the desperate predictions continue.

Yeah I think so but the Australian coach wants his players to be getting as much game time as possible to help out with our qualifaction.
West Brom would've been a good move for him.

What a wonderful feeling it is to not have to check this thread like a maniac until the end of August.

So the English journos were right on Mahrez. French reporters were saying how he wants to go to Arsenal, they've made an opening bid etc

Although still don't get why a player this close to contract extension would say stuff like "there are 2-3 clubs that may tempt me". Makes no sense!

To put pressure on the club to raise their wage offer i would think.

Desperate predictions? Do you really presume that United fans want their players to do badly? I'd be over the moon if Valencia turned out to be fantastic this season. I just do not see it happening. He's a good converted winger who can tackle and do a job at RB, but if he's targeted he'll make errors and cost us points. This is my opinion and only time will tell whether I'm correct, but I sincerely hope I'm not.

I did say 'If' Mourinho's looking at buying. There have been many reports and it seems likely that it's an area he's looked into at least but again, only time will tell.

Can't really use that argument though. Rooney has also survived every managerial change. Does that mean Rooney is performing excellently? Nope. As someone who vehemently doesn't think Valencia is good enough for RB (and Manchester United itself), I can only say that this season, he has not been caught out yet. Early days though. Only 2 games so far.
