Quite simple, because we've got his position covered, albeit with players of a different style (Carrick, Schneiderlin, to a certain extend Schweinsteiger). It's not worth throwing that kind of money at Kante IMO, despite his excellent season I feel he's quite limited. Our problems are further forward as well which Jose identified swiftly. If Carrick is managed properly I won't be surprised to see him have a much better season than the last couple.

Carrick is 35 and is often injured.

Badly managed IMO during the last couple of years – but that's for another thread. We've also got Schneiderlin and (still) Schweinsteiger. You have to manage players properly in a way SAF did, something Van Gaal and Moyes simply didn't do well enough.

His positioning is awful and he has no sense of angles. Being strong and somewhat fast isn't enough, yet somehow those qualities seem to blind people to his many deficiencies.

It really isn't people only started saying his positioning was awful when they had no response when people pointed out his awful crossing didn't matter too much for a full back. He is responsible for less goals when he plays than our other defenders easily.

Carrick is here still mostly on name alone, not because he is actually usefull on the pitch. I am very happy he will be gone next season and I hope his game time this season will be extremly limited. If we replace him by a guy like Carvalho, I'll be fuming.

No he's not. He isn't as good as he used to be but I still believe he was better than any other of our centre midfielders in the second half of last season (not that it's saying much). She he be replaced? Definitely - but he more worthy of being here than many others.

I'd like Coleman but if we push for another centre back I may be wrong but can Bailey not play right back? We also have Jones TFM and Darmain on the books yet big question marks over all them as TFM inexperience and Jones and Darmain have fitness and even capability question marks granted so I do get your point. But it is a lot of money for Valencia and there are a few decent right backs out there. The Chelsea boy was apparently available and there will be more Jesus add another £20 million and that's what Juve are apparently rating Bonnuci at! Makes you think imo.

Firstly, i dont think we need the money given how we sell our players. Moreover, I dont think we'll sell players mourinho wants to keep even if big bids come in for them (IMO).

An argument can be made that Mourinho himself said that he likes specialists and Valencia is not a specialist RB. Thats why i see where you're coming from. But neither are Bailly TFM or Jones. In that regard, Coleman would actually be a good option for any manager. But knowing Mourinho he probably wont go for an attacking full back at RB given that he already has one in Shaw on the left side. Only Fabinho from Monaco comes to mind when i think of an accomplished defensive RB (if I assume Chelsea wont sell Azpilicueta).

(I dont get your point about Bonucci. And I dont believe that Juve will ever sell him. Hes in his prime and one of the best CBs in the world on current form )

When you think about our squad with Carrick and Bastian - it seems absurd to not go for Kante and it'll be interesting who we go for. We still could put an offer in ourselves, though I doubt it sadly.

I've got a feeling Pogba is done but we are doing Juve a favour by letting them spend the cash before announcing he's been sold.

What a contrast to three years ago during the thiago+fabregas saga when we were salivating at the thought of him joining.

So the only possible reason people could have for criticizing Valencia is that they don't like him? That's a bit convenient. And awful crossing/slowing down attacks/zero offensive output doesn't matter for a fullback? It's one of the most important qualities in fullbacks in today's football.

To let Chelsea get Kante and us take Fabregas makes no sense for me. (I know it's paper talk incidentally).

Who ever is writing the Redcafe tweets has a big point. We should insert buy back clauses in all of our players who are leaving for other clubs. You never know what is going to happen

Would have loved for us to sign Fabregas in 2014. Unfortunately it isn't 2014 anymore

€20m and €8m benefit for Digne who failed with us is pretty good.

I don't think Fabregas is a bad idea, if the fee isn't large (even though I really do not like him)

Didn't Fibreglass pack up tools under Mourinho? I thought they hated each other.
