Television Suits

It wouldn't as long as 7 seasons if they didn't include the boring drama part. But its quite a fun watch ignoring bits of it.

True, and they've managed to set up a fair few of them, rather than sticking steadfastly with one, increasibly tedious one long beyond the point of interest (*cough* Mentalist *cough*) so fair play.

Castle is rubbish when it tries to be a serious hard boiled cop drama, since it's based on the ridiculous premise of the NYPD allowing a hack writer to spend seven years palling around with them, solving all their crimes and fecking their lead detectives. When it's daft, it's just an excuse to watch Nathan Fillion be Nathan Fillion in a myriad of silly set ups, which is usually good fun. I'd root for Nathan Fillion whatever he was doing. Even if he was playing one of the horrible cnuts on Suits.

Yeah, agreed. He's an absolute tool, in a complimentary type way.

OK, caught up to the start of series 4 now!

Must say Harvey's taste in women has gone downhill if the one in his bed during the opening credits is anything to go by.

Obviously still too early for Mikes (universally derided) new haircut as well so I guess that's something I can look forward to next season

 not quite, but he does start a fight.

I'll bet he's a windmiller. He seems like a windmiller.

Tbf, I'd have given up on a lesser made show, but I'll persevere with my parallel ideal because it's so very well produced. The soundtrack alone is worth watching for, and even the daft corridor exchanges where they walk up to each other like Reservoir Dogs, spitball something corny, then walk off either side of frame like they've actually got something better to do, are snappy and fun and just ridiculous enough to fly. And Gabriel Macht is an excellent villian. His character may be an arsehole with the audience conning good-guy shortcuts of sporting interest, soulful musical taste and a slew of cool wisened black extras to fist bump, but I'd struggle to think of anyone else as short and warty that looks nearly as good walking in slow motion in a suit to something by The Heavy.

Think this season has been a bit better. Still, I will join in and say Mike's hair is fecking shocking.

Bit late to the party but I'm on season 5 now. I think any show based on this premise was going to fizzle out in comparison to its first few seasons but that said this show is one of the most watchable series' I have seen.. its just really chilled out enjoyable tv.

Scottie and Katrina were the hottest for me, and Rachel is prettier than Donna.. I don't buy the Harvey actually having a thing for her shizzle, shes sister material. Unless the episodes I haven't seen yet tell me otherwise.

Harvey and Louis are such different characters yet I love them both equally.. still haven't got bored of watching them.

I want to watch new shows, is this any good? on my list right now: Comunity, The Sopranos, The Office.

I usually give a series a full season before deciding whether I want to keep watching or drop it, you're saying 2 episodes would be enough?
Think I knew very early in that it was something I liked, characters, potential, music, etc. just give it a go, I can't speak for you. Some like it some don't. I'm not even up to date (mid season 4) so it all might still go to shit yet … but I'm glad I've watched everything up to now and really enjoyed it.

What show do you think it's similar to?

Latest episode was a bit weak.

The whole 'someone might find out about Mike's secret' thing is beyond tired now, I liked when it looked like they'd left it behind.

I find the weekly soppy shit between Rachel and Ross just so tedious. There's always 2/3 scenes every episode where it gets over soppy. Soppy is fine, but it just doesn't really suit Suits.

Surely he's well respected enough now to get a job at another place that doesn't have such a ridiculously antiquated, bullingdon club like hiring system? Or you know, they could just change it?

It started off as a schtick to highlight their rebelious, anti-establishment coolness...But now all the main players are actually running the company, it's just yet another reason why this whole firm are a bunch of slimy cnuts.

I don't think requiring a law degree to practice law is all that antiquated.

It's more a legal requirement.

He could get a degree though. It's well established he's a zen exam master. And I'm pretty sure he's passed the bar. That he needs one from Harvard, and Harvard alone to prevent the world caving in on them all is just meh. Especially when all the actual Harvard interns are without exception show to be mass variations on Tim Nice But Dim.

It's more the fact that he's been practicing law for all this time without the degree.

If he went and got one now it'd obviously draw attention to the fact that he didn't have one in the first place.

Would look a bit stupid to have a degree dated 2015 (let alone having gone to law school), when you're showing up as a junior associate since 2011

If you search "Suits music" you get some really amazing playlists if anyone's interested

Spotify or youtube? I think the music on the show is great so if you could point me where exactly to get the playlists I'd really appreciate it!

I can't remember if I posted it before but I always mean to when I see them doing the shieeet quote from The Wire. Has Mike not noticed that his soon to be father in law was actually in the Wire?

I was hooked by the first episode itself.

First couple of seasons are fantastic. Goes a bit downhill after that but seems to have picked up again. I need to get back into it though, stopped watching once it turned cheesy.

This type of stuff kinda bugs me a bit as well. I know it shouldn't, because it's daft, but if you're buying into their world as a reality then it doesn't take much effort to not reference another show which featured a cast member.

It is a decent show and it could have been a great show that focused on the competitiveness of lawyers where disputes rarely end up in courtrooms. The fake lawyer storyline just drags the show down. It would be a much better show if Mike was a graduate of say CUNY School of Law who Harvey decided to hire over the Harvard graduates they usually hire.

If people are watching Game of Thrones and haven't finished the latest season, they should probably finish that before watching the last Suits episode.. I'd imagine I would be quite pissed about that analogy they used if I wasn't caught up on GoT

It's a bit like the Direct line ads where they do a parody of the Winston Wolf character, don't they realise … oh, hold on, I'm confused

I haven't even started on GoT yet. Looks like I have to postpone it because of that spoiler
