Sturridge - Sky’s new entertainer :(

Seems a bit of a weird comment from Jill though. The comments are still funny

But what she said isn't funny nor does it even make any sense. Why do the scousers care so much?

One of the best PL moments that Liverpool 2014 title collapse. Can't believe that's nearly 10 years ago.

It is funny because they bottled it. Reminding everyone they bottled it will always be funny to me, regardless of the details.

it was also funny because he looked like he was about to cry

How is it even remotely weird?

it makes no sense contextually. he said when he’s driving in his car now, vibing - if he hears a song that reminds him of then - he thinks about how they didn’t do it

and she said “well if you weren’t vibing maybe you would have done it”

^as above

Remember when Pool desperately needed to win by... I don't know.. 10? in order to get 1st place back.
He scored a goal and started dancing celebrating but everyone else wanted to score more, he realized it and stopped midway and changed his dance to a gesture 'inviting' his team mates to come with him and restart the game. It was quite smooth too. But I know deep down he knew he fecked up.

Yeah it didn't really make sense. Was still funny though.

But it's not weird? It's a comedy show, are you going through other one liners and cheap gags to point out that, actually, contextually, it's not quite right?

I wonder if he's always been as odd as he has portrayed since getting on TV the last few years? Was he an oddball as a player, or is it a persona he's now adopted?

Revisiting his stats for that season -- 21 goals and 7 assists in 29 matches. Wasn't too much more Sturridge could've done that season (apart from score 9 more in that one game you allude to)

I guess it comes off as weird because 1. It makes no sense. 2 it’s cheap and it could be interpreted as playing into certain mindsets/dispositions and potentially stereotypes

and no, I’m not going through other one liners and cheap gags, someone said what she said was weird, you asked how is it remotely weird, and I expounded on why some could see it as weird - didn’t mean any offense. Be easy.

I tried finding the celebration but every video always cuts it off. I did come across this video that I haven't seen in years, though:

I guess you have not watched any of this kind of comedy show before - just don't get why someone would call it weird, it's literally the most normal cheap one liner you could imagine.

Makes no sense though - he's talking about reminiscing about it, he never talked about 'vibing' then

Also, what does vibing in a car to music have to do with winning anything?
It’s not that deep mate. She was making fun of him for the bottling.

I’m sure he’s an odd character, but having seen him build a bit of a social media platform you can tell some thought has gone into sensationalising everything for ‘clips’ or ‘shorts’.

Absolutely this. It wasn't particularly clever or funny. Just comes across as a bit dickish, because it didn't make sense.

I have - I’ve watched “8 out of 10 cats” plenty of times. Again - I wasn’t the one that called it weird, though I can see why someone would - thus my reply and reasoning as to why it can play as weird to some. It’s not really a hill to die on. You asked how it was remotely weird - and I simply replied with what I think could lead to that interpretation.

Read above posts - some even think it comes off as “dickhead-ish”

I don't get why people are reading so much into such an off hand shit gag.

Fair, but it made no sense though, is all I'm saying.
The timing and impact of it was actually funny, and I felt going on like he did, he left himself open. However, it's still an absolutely nonsensical comment

I'm sure much thought went into a one liner on a comedy show.

It was super funny. Anything that reminds us of that year is great.
