It's not so much the fact he's put him in for this season, but it's his other comments that reinforce why I think Garth Crook is a complete tool. I can only presume he meant the best Liverpool player of his generation, my gut tells me he didn't though.
To think that a mere slip against Chelsea should rob Steven Gerrard - arguably the best player of his generation - of lifting the Premier League title seems outrageously unfair. He may not have enjoyed the dream finish to the season that Liverpool fans so desperately wanted, but he could not have given any more to the cause.
His sheer professionalism and dignified approach to the game makes him the perfect choice to lead England in the World Cup.

The bit about Gerrard being arguably the best player of his generation - it's a comical statement. Gerrard isn't in the top ten of his generation. Unless it's simply English players the journalist (is that what Crooks calls himself?) is asserting.
