Manchester United are set to beat Italy's leading clubs to the £9.6 million signing of Panathinaikos starlet Sotiris Ninis, according to Forza Roma.
Ninis, 20, is one of the most highly-rated youngsters in Europe and was part of the Greece squad that travelled to World Cup 2010. His comfort in attacking midfield and on either wing has seen him added to the transfer wish list of Roma, Inter, AC Milan and Arsenal.
But United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is reported to have stolen a march on his rivals and has already handed a multi-million bid to the Greek champions. With Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs in the twilight of their careers, Ninis would add an injection of youth into the United ranks.
Still not buying first team.. Seems really cheap for the next big greek prospect.
Did anyone watch him in the wc?
To be fair he doesn't look impressive at all in this video. I'm not sure he would be better than Obertan.
I'm half Greek, but 10 million pounds for a Greek footballer is too much, whatever his prospects which are, as anyone can guess, not great...
Did anyone watch him in the wc?
Looks even weaker than Tosic if you ask me, if hes the player that came on in the Argentina game then he didnt look great, actually fell over the ball at one point.
I watched his two games as a sub, not entirely impressed, got a bit of the ball, tried the dribble, got surrounded, crossed as hard as he could.... Goal kick...
Let's just say from A.Sanchez's performances you can call this guy a lot weaker in tight situations as isn't as good on the dribble and just isn't as quick... also took too much time to think of his next move...
Summary: Not United quality for me...
I think we can safely say that the World Cup is a poor yard-stick to be judging players by.
The muppets will freak-out if we sign this guy. It wont matter how good he is, or if they've ever seen him play, or how much SAF rates him; he's not on their little muppet list so they'll do their fecking nuts in.

The new Giorgos Donis
That seems like a steep fee for an unproven youngster. If we bring him in, surely we'll have to sell someone, we can't simply stockpile youngsters, they all need ample playing time if they're going to develop.United on verge of Greek starlet signing
- Sotiris Ninis reportedly on verge of Old Trafford move
Manchester United have reportedly beaten off competition from Italy to sign Greek youngster Sotiris Ninis.
The Panathinaikos starlet has been courted by some of the top clubs in Serie 'A', but United are thought to have won the race for the starlet with a £9.6 million move.
Forza Roma reports that Sir Alex Ferguson has won the race for one of Europe's hottest properties
Attacking midfielder Ninis has a growing reputation after a fantastic start to his career in the Greek Super League. A product of Trifylli's youth system, the playmaker made his debut as teenager in 2006.
The 20-year-old took his first team opportunities this season, and helped his side to the title for the first time in six years.
International recognition has followed for Ninis, who made his debut for the Greek U21 side in 2007. The following year, senior honours were granted and the midfielder has played six times for Greece already this season. He scored his only goal for the country against Cyprus.
Roma, Inter, AC Milan and Arsenal have all previously been linked with Ninis, but Forza Roma reports that Sir Alex Ferguson has won the race for one of Europe's hottest properties.
The Red Devils have already confirmed the signing of Mexican starlet Javier Hernandez, and the addition of Ninis would confirm that the club are looking at long-term replacements for veterans like Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes.

Unlikely to be all in one go, and if this is true(doubtful) our scouts will have had a whole season of first team football from him in which to decide whether he can do a job here.

I like the official United sites gossip page. They have a count on the amount of players we're linked with.
Running total: 70 in (estimated £1.269billion), 16 out (estimated £174million, including loans and swaps)
It's actually an subtle internal attempt to cause heart attacks at the Glazer family.

That'll be 13 midfielders fighting for 4 spots. Far far too many, will hamper the younger players' development. Not to mention that a few from our reserves could potentially make the step up too. Someone's got to be heading out.
They got hearts?
