Sofyan Amrabat | signs for United on loan

Everyone except United are flogging off the deadwood to Saudi, Ronaldo have probably banned the Saudis from buying United players.

I don't think Ronaldo would have agreed to terminate his contract with no compensation without being offered a gigantic contract from Al Nassr, and there are some Saudi teams looking at Fred.

Also been a lot of chatter about them wanting Telles.

Who is that proper 6 cover then?

Realistically? I'm not sure as they would have to be a developmental style player conceding the majority of the minutes to Casemiro and I don't have the scouting knowledge that our club should have, Tchouameni rumours would have been a dream come true but it's not realistic but someone like Gueye at Sevilla, Caicedo at Brighton, Lavia at Soton, Hojberg at Spurs seems to be out the door, Onana (Everton), Kamara (Villa) to name a few well known choices.

EDIT: I know Rabiot is off the table now but he would have been an excellent addition personality aside.

No chance we can afford Caicedo/Lavia,like you say Tchouameni would be top signing but not got the funds unfortunately

I don't think we can afford them in the current climate, I think if we remove some of the deadwood like VDB, Maguire, Williams, Henderson and get clever with the financing of the deal then it could be done but I don't think we have the recruitment team to pull that off but I guess it's disappointing that we don't seem to have the scouting team either to find alternative options, it seems that typically we identify positions and go down that list, exhausting all options until we secure one which will result in every position required getting recruited but some are quite far down the list. ETH seems to have different plans and I think the first plan was dependant on a top striker and once it become clear that was not a choice, I think he wanted an upgrade on Eriksen, new keeper and a younger striker rather than keep going down the same list. I think Rabiot was initially sought after but again rather than get the next best I think we now seem to be considering the team as a wider portfolio which is a sensible strategy at least.

Yeah definitely don't have the recruitment team to cleverly finance a deal for any of those

We need cover for Casemiro. It defies belief that the Glazers are going to let us go into another season with only one DM. Actually no never mind, that's exactly something they would do.

Yeah we definitely do and like you say they couldn't care less about the state of squad

It is exhausting following and generally supporting this 'football club' with these absolute leeches in charge.

Amrabat is just about the only attainable Casemiro deputy given our finances this summer and the morons appointed by the Glazers might be too slow to sell, so we can actually buy him.

WIthout EtH, we'd be completely done, Spurs-style.

Please can we have a sticky note in transfer threads pointing out players positions as its crazy how many think Amrabat is a Casemiro like player

Is Tchouameni even on the market?

Real have stated that he is not for sale at any price, which is strange considering the wealth of talent they have in that position. Would he be worth a cheeky loan deal where you pay his wages and agree a recall policy? With the Euros next year surely Tchouameni wants to be playing regularly if he is to get in the National team, Real retain the player on their books and you get the DM you need (although would he be prepared to be the understudy to Casemeiro)?

Well, he is box to box, but he played DM brilliantly for Monaco at the World Cup, so it's not the end of the world. And he probably would cover for Casemiro as well as play together with him in tough away matches.

Why did you put football club in air quotes?

Liverpool fans seems to be convinced he is heading to them. Will be a shame.

Not sure you can back the club when chosing Amrabat over Lavia aside it being more financially viable.

I think he's decent CDM who had an very good WC outing.
There are many outstanding performers from that Moroccan side, Yassine Bounou, Achraf Hakimi, Sofiane Boufal and Azzedine Ounahi to name a few.
Even Hakim Ziyech was playing well.
Fiorentina should have cashed out when his stock peaked right after the tournament.
His defensive side is solid but he doesn't seem to offer much anywhere else
If the objective is to take over from Casemiro as CDM and push the latter forward to CM where he can offer more, this certainly workable.
Having Mason Mount as the furthest forward CM could make a balanced formula, offering a lot of energy, robustness and experience.
It may lack guile a little bit, but very functional nonetheless.

His on the ball abilities are probably better than his off the ball ones. He has a good ball winning %, but his ball winning volume is lesser compared to the likes of Casemiro, which makes people think he's bad defensively, but I would argue that his defensive numbers being higher for Morocco compared to Fiorentina, just says his tactical role and team playing style is different.

His main strength I would say is his energy, physicality and excellent passing/playing out of pressure. I think he would be a major upgrade on McT as our backup #6, and can also play alongside Casemiro in big games ala Fred.

This graph looks promising. Big improvement in progressive passing/carrying if we have him instead of Mctominay. Lets go for him!

I would rather take a chance on Mats Wieffer (Feyenoord). Could be a long term replacement for Casemiro. In the meantime could share the number 8 with Mason

Don’t know who he is. But I’m with you.
