what are we getting for Henderson, wouldn't his fee cover a good whack of any fee for Amrabat

What kind of player is he? Is he any better than Fred or McT?

Fred plays for Brazil.. McT is great for Scotland.. I'm sure both would excel in the Serie A as well considering how shit that league is.

He turns 27 in a month and a mid table Serie A side is the highest level he has played at.

if a cut price Casemiro alternative is what we are looking for then I hope we are looking at Andre from Fluminese. From what I’ve seen I think he has good potential to even be Casemiro’s successor in the international squad
I'm not convinced that is what we are looking for. Last season, ETH wanted FDJ for the deep lying, press resistant playmaker role. Either that was aswell as Casemiro or instead, but this guy is similar in style to FDJ, so maybe he would come in as an FDJ alternative. ETH is clearly trying to transition the squad to suit his playing style, and eventually it will, but what will he do with great players like Rashford or Bruno if they don't fit his style (not suggesting they do or don't)? Will he adapt his style to accommodate them, get them to adapt their game, or sell?

A style can be tweaked and players can be tweaked to make it all work, up to a point. Bruno and Rashford are good enough you‘d want to build around them.

Some players aren‘t, and you make do with them until you can upgrade. Like DDG.

So what? Many great players played in middling to low teams before making the move up to the big club.

And just because a player is an international doesn't make him great. Maguire has been a cornerstone of Southgate's England that has gotten to a world cup semifinal and a Euros final in 4 years. There are many crap international players.

"Shit" Serie A produced two CL semi finalists and 3 finalists across the European club competitions. High time we stopped the snobbery of other leagues.

Watch the full match between Fiorentina and West Ham, It's on YT. He isn't just a ball winner, he dictates play a lot and is progressive with his passing. Plays one touch, can pop it short and long, while under pressure.

To compare, not their qualities but career paths, Luka Modrić was about the same age when he left Tottenham, so it's not always true that players are less worthy if they are not in top clubs until certain stage in their career.

Also, I think people are misunderstanding Amrabat as a player - he is more similar to FDJ in his style than Casemiro. Not at level as FDJ, but he is a deep lying playmaker who can progress the ball very well.

Some people will mock ETH for his transfers and background of players, but I think he is doing it very smart by signing players who he work with or had a closer look at previously in his career: Lisandro, Antony, Eriksen, Onana, Mount (Vitesse), Amrabat (Utrecht).

I know it might not be fair to the scouts and analytics, but with this kind of approach ETH knows exactly what he is getting with those players, reducing some question marks and helping him in building a squad while staying stable and competitive in the process - what is the most important thing here.

I hope ETH goes for amrabat.. he is not very expensive maybe 30 mil mark...he can be a backup for Casamero or play along side him.

Tchouameni is a DM, Valverde is a CM. Who is more needed here?
Tchouameni. He has so much time on the ball and a calm brain ( may be I am in minority) , no brainer in my opinion. But thats not worth much in football

I‘d take either, but where would the ££ come from? They paid 90 million € or more for Tchoutchou.

It's entirely possible that ten Hag is picking the players he knows from shortlists recommended by the scouts and analysts. Incoming players already knowing the manager and his tactics means they take less time to integrate into the squad, yet it's viewed as this intensely negative thing for some reason. It's especially weird since the only questionable permanent transfer so far has been Antony and even then it's pretty early to call that one.

Anyways, the scouts and analysts haven't really shown any evidence of being good at their jobs over the last decade so I'm not sure why there's so much hand wringing over them not being in the driver's seat. It seems like a recipe for getting more players like Fred and Donny.

I see a shift in our approach in getting only players that really want to play for United and Ten Hag rather than being lured by money. Obviously, players who've played for Ten Hag will be on top of this list by default since they're already comfortable with him. Eventually, if we're successful, we'll be like City where players are desperate to play under Pep and get good deals.

Yeah, that well can be the truth. Neither I am convinced with the work of our scouts till date, but I think I didn't express my thoughts properly. I was thinking something like that makes them even more useless to the first team recruitment as you don't need some sort of special scouting insight to sign players who the manager already knows pretty well.

That kind of approach is smart from ETH because it gives him essential time to succeed here because a club of our desired level should stay as competitive as possible while building a squad. That sort of signings are some kind of shortcuts that allows him to go smoother through squad building and implementing a style he wants as quickly as possible. It’s way better than previous practice that saw us going for big names trying to buy instant success.

Also, I agree that any conclusion on Antony is premature, he had a very solid first season, definitely better than Sancho for example who is IMO comparable to him regarding transfer fee and position. People are easy to judge on him and expect him to have double figures while he has never been a player known for his strong end product and we knew it before the move happened.

But I think both Sancho and Antony can become much more effective once we manage to move higher and spend more sustainable time in opposition half. That's why I really like the signing of Onana, it will make things better for those two players mentioned to increase our possession game rather than having a GK who is constantly giving a ball away and making attackers challenge for every ball and opportunity.

Agree, for example, here are some posters mentioning Valverde and although I rate him as a monster player and I would theoretically love him here, you can see his obvious desire to succeed at Madrid.

To those asking what kind of player he is, he is a classic #6. He sits in front of the defence shielding it, and acts as the deep lying playmaker for the team. He is solid defensively(not as good as Casemiro), but where he really excels is his press resistance. Very smooth on the ball, and a high volume/accuracy passer, who will really help the team in the buildup phase.

For around 25-30M€ its a no-brainer. Would be a very good backup/rotation for Casemiro.

Weren’t we heavily linked with Valverde before he joined Real? Was he a Mayorga find?

I feel like Amrabat deal is going to be hijacked by other club, similar to Kim Min Jae. We have still not sold anyone(for some ridiculous reasons) and Onana and Hojlund deals are going to drag for the whole July it looks like.
