So...what could Van Troll's Surprise be!? | LVG: "not a striker - it's something else"

:D

Its funny that many people think that Cavani will join. Why? Because Di Maria is about to join PSG.
Firstly, we wont buy Cavani, just because we are selling them Di Maria. The 2 deals are mutually exclusive.

Last year, we got
Falcao from PSG ...and did not give them anybody back.
Shaw from Southampton ...and did not give them anybody back.
Blind from Ajax ...and did not give them anybody back.
Di Maria from Madrid ...and did not give them anybody back.
Herrerra from Bilbao ...and did not give them anybody back.
Rojo from Sporting ...and did not give them anybody back.

you get the drift.

So why on Earth would anybody think that we would buy a player, just so we could sell them our player? It makes no logical sense.

Falcao was Monaco
Re PSG We're not buying Cavani nor selling them ADM

Van Gaal might keep everyone guessing until the season starts.

Arriving at Carrington.

That's exactly what he would say as well!!!:lol:

Greizman isn't really a striker tho eh?

Yeah He can play both striker and wing which is a huge positive. According to whoscored he played 21 games as striker last year and scored 15. So I guess he can play striker.

I see a few mentioning Berahino, if LvG wanted him he'd be on the tour now, I don't see any big difficulty in signing him.

Lads, LVG doesn't read all the feckin papers like, he doesn't know every player we are linked with  I think he was just referring to the likes of Cavani and maybe Kane, the obvious ones we have been linked with constantly. Don't think it's going to be a superstar signing but rather a smart signing who would keep Rooney on edge.

I can compile a similar list for this year's signings and you see the same pattern.

Oh and as for who are we getting this Summer...I think it'll be Muller or Pedro or nobody.
Agree swap deals rarely work, and we got Falcao from Monaco.

Would it bollocks.
Why not? Look at his resume. The common theme is wherever he goes, they win the league. Yes the PL is tougher than any league he's been depending on how you frame it but the facet of his impact on a league campaign cannot be ignored.

30 goals in 35 games for PSG last season is shit-hot form, although Ligue 1 isnt one of the top leagues in Europe though..

Still impressive all the same!

Any possibility of signing Ronaldo on a 1 year loan? He wants to finish his career at Madrid I think that's certain but could be interested to reunite with us for one year and than come back, de Gea may play role in this..

Yeah I could really see that happening. I think he would wear a Bobby Charlton wig during matches as a throwback to the old days.

That could be a pretty good signing, but he'd cost quite a bit, wouldn't he?
Is there any chance the whole Ramos thing is a smokescreen for Ronaldo's homecoming?
No.

Which Is why it's perfect. He plays striker role for A. Madrid sometimes but is a wide fwd who scores goals. So he would get tuns of games for us. Would fit the "not been linked to us" and lvg does call wide fwds strikers.

May not be him. But I really hope it's him. Also has a slightly realistic buy out clause. If di Maria goes he's the one to get for me.

Yeah In today's overpriced market he would be worth 40 million maybe pushing up to 50 million.

If we do sell ADM to PSG then It would cover the cost of griezmann. He's only 24 too so he's got years left in him. He can play wing or striker at a very good level so all things considered signing griezmann makes too much sense. We should definitely be in for him.

I don't think van Gaal spends time checking all the strikers the media has linked to us, so it's probably someone we've already been linked just not on a huge scale like Muller for example.
I agree. He said, it isn't the striker we have been linked to - meaning he has one in particular in mind who is mentioned a lot.

Don't do this to me you put me in full on muppet mode . I would love griezmann he's the right age and the correct profile of player we should be after. I'd actually much prefer him to Di Maria if I'm honest so I'm praying your theory is correct.

Edit: sorted blasted phone

surprised nobody mentioned Charlie Austin, he would be a good addition, wouldn't mind playing second fiddle to Rooney, clinical striker, could score with either part of his body and wouldn't cost much. I thing he had great season in such poor side.

He's got
  • 18+7 in 35 games - season 14/15
  • 20+3 in 27 games - season 13/14
  • 27+4 in 40 games - season 12/13

not bad numbers, would overscore Falcao any day I guess
also think it's not a coincidence that he's still with QPR, I think number of teams in EPL monitored him and could have been bidding for him once it was clear they are relagated, the best offer still to come..
Also if we managed to get him only on loan we could wait and get Kane next summer who has more potential but not sure if QPR would allow such deal, we could loan them someone else maybe..

Playing devils advocate here, but could of been waiting for him to turf his agent, aidy ward is it? Sterlings agent.

Erm...

Charlie Austin knowing our luck.

Hopefully Liverpool snap him up

It's Charlie Austin isn't it?

Charlie Austin?

He said it's in the process and that the window is open till 1st September. It's obviously a big name, otherwise Woody would already have wapped it up if it was someone like Austin or Berahino.

Charlie Austin

This is what I think too, and I'd be totally okay with it.

Difference with Zlatan is that he can still produce. Not saying all this is true. Could you imagine if they build all this up and it is Hunterlaar or Charlie Austin?

Yeah, its a real shock to me too... ;)
