Yellow. If it’s a red then send off Ayew and Fred too. Consistency is key if you’re going to be reducing players a side has available. Even without those two players he only grabs his shirt so I’d argue a yellow. He puts himself at risk by raising his hands unfortunately but still not enough for me. Not violent conduct either.
2 chances of that happening . They pick and choose

Nobody is a cheerleader for the ref. We simply understand that he’s left the ref no choice with the red. If this has happened the other way you’d all be scrambling fir a sending off.

oh and personally I’d have sent several off including Casemiro and Ayew
Sending off several would really be silly and would have fully ruined the game. It would show the very lack of common sense that most of us object to.

Regardless of “giving the ref the opportunity” or any actions that were unnecessary, the only question is “was there violent conduct”. Honestly? There was no violence and certainly not from Case - you only need to apply common sense when interpreting the actual wording of the law and all this silliness can be avoided. Yes these sorts of melees should be discouraged but yellow cards are proportionate.

I wonder what the thought would be if it were Robertson of Liverpool doing the same thing?

So, you are one of the 40% or one of that 80%, I guess.
You truly are inventing stuff now, putting words in people's mouths and trying to position yourself as the one and only possible source of truth.
Accept that a lot of people truly believe that was a red card offence, regardless if he punches, chokes or just lays his hands on his collar. I'm sure Ten Hag has now said to his team to never put themselves in a similar position where refs can use an angle or whatever to send them off.

We’ll definitely appeal. I think there are clear grounds due to the angle in slow motion being shown to the ref not giving the full picture which would make it impossible to deem it frivolous. Doubt it’ll succeed but there’s no way that should be a red card - and fair play to linekar for changing his mind after seeing the new footage rather than just repeatedly posting about a still image which clearly incorrectly implies he has his hands around his throat and is throttling him like some on here have been.
If we appeal and fail, it's one more game to the ban.
I doubt we'll appeal.

It’s not automatically an extra game is it?

I keep seeing this posted
It used to be, not sure if it still is.

The idea is to prevent teams from appealing every red card which creates work for the committees, time and money, etc. I support the logic of an automaticone game in case of unsuccessful appeal. Incentives align.

If Casemiro was trying to crush his oesophagus, yes. That's only allowed in sex masochism.

I think if the appeal is ridiculous they can extend it yes but you don’t automatically get more games just for appealing genuinely

I’d say it’s a yellow, it’s stupid by Casemiro but Will Hughes was unharmed and still standing. Wonder if he’d slapped him in a rear naked and was just pulling him away from the incident would it still be a red?

Only if deemed frivolous to delay the ban which I have no idea how this could be. The downside is I’m assuming they wouldn’t make a decision on the appeal until after Leeds meaning Casemiro is able to play on Wednesday but if the appeal is rejected he misses the cup final.

Send him off, obviously - I’d send that guy off for existing.

If we try to take emotion out of it and imagine that mess was going on between two random teams, the common sense solution is a handful of yellows, not a handful of reds.

Red. But they should take all the mitigations into account. Because it does look more like Casemiro was just pulling Hughes out of the way...
But it is Manchester United so they won't.

Red. Perhaps an appeal to get the suspension reduced to one or two games would succeed, but it's a long shot.

Sorry if covered but when would United need to appeal this by?

And any idea when we’d get a decision? Presumably the next game is only a couple of days away..

So a Man Utd player where initially it seemed as if they'd committed assault and they were punished for it, but then new evidence came to light which showed they hadn't and that they shouldn't be banned?!

Changed my vote from red to yellow just on the basis that he still shouldn't grabbed the collar or whatever. Plenty other players should have been booked in that whole sequence

FA will probably add another match or two ban for a chokehold for when he puts his arm around him at the end of that clip.

Being serious, this should be overturned in my view based on the angle shown on MOTD and clips like this. Doubt it will be though - and I suspect we won’t risk appealing

I've had an eleven year hiatus from posting on this forum, I've never stopped reading but also never felt the urge to get back to posting, but near enough 40% of you cnuts have driven me to write this (and a few drinks).

You need to cop the feck on, some of the shit I've seen posted on here by supposed fans of this club is a fecking disgrace. After everything Casimero has done for this club since he's joined, transformed our midfield and showed nothing but 100% every time he has been on the pitch, to see how quick you all are to call him out on this stitch up of a VAR decision disgusts me. Do you not for one minute think he deserves our support? I could see in real time that he was doing nothing but try to diffuse this situation, even without the countless replays that have been shown since, and still with all the evidence shown some of you are still not backing down?

Unbelievably disappointing, and exactly the reason I stopped posting to begin with.

You all have no right to call yourselves United fans and deserve none of the success that ETH is going to bring this club.

Feck me and end of rant.

This is correct. Cas wasn’t aggressive, he was moving Hughes away and as stated elsewhere in the thread, they laugh and hug it out at the end. It’s a nonsense decision.
On those circumstances of course our player should have the backing of our supporters.

I can’t read the “can you repeat the question?” Option without hearing the Malcolm in the Middle theme in my head.

United should appeal by the way - it’s a very harsh red card.

Good to see the overwhelming majority don’t feel it was a red card
Yeah there are a few posters (with a high post count) insisting Red but most others feel it was harsh (even if admitting there was quite a bit of stuff there that was in the grey area and probably worthy of Yellows).

I think we should appeal. We can't afford to lose Casemiro over this nosense.

Will Hughes should make a public statement, thanking Casamiro for holding him back and that at no time were Casamiros hands around his neck.

I was convinced it was a red but looking at fan unedited videos, I think we should appeal.

Where's the video of Ayew punching/holding Fred on the neck? Saw it here somewhere and can't find it now.

This case showes the wekaness of the VAR system. The ref is difficult to blame as from the slow motion of that one angle it looked like a red to everyone. After the other angles were released it is not even a yellow. Yellow to Schlupp and Fred (maybe Antony and Ayew too) would be sensible. We should appeal even with Casemiros possible cup final miss in mind.

You're not the boss of me now.
