Sneijder to Galatasaray?

A central defensive midfielder does not fix the problem of both wing backs bombing forward at the same time.

Sneijder is not the answer. I'd prefer if we went for the likes of Ganso or Javi Martinez, or made a huge bid for Schweinsteiger.

Maybe not but it helps when they lose the ball and our opponents come racing down the middle of our pitch.

Have you not watched Barca play? Having Busquets in front of the CB's enables the full backs to bomb on regardless.

The problem is not having attacking full backs, the problem is having no contingency plan to protect the centre halves when they do go forward.

So a 1-6 loss pumps his value up even more. Glorious. Surely we can't be THIS desperate?

Ganso is another Enganche, a number 10; Javi Martinez is being converted into a ball playing CB; Schweinsteiger makes the most sense, but I struggle to imagine ourselves matching anywhere near where Bayern will be forced to sell, if at all they would be.

For £40 million we could probably buy two top quality central midfielders. feck Sneijder, that boat has passed.

Ganso? I'd rather play Pogba in the first team regularly starting tomorrow than splash out on him.

Any one of three Spanish under 21 midfielders who played in the recent Euro championships would be better options IMHO.

Reasons: cost, age, baggage, ego...

We'd be committing ourselves to paying something like £80-90m over the course of his contract for a player who has only had one season worth that sort of a fee, at almost 28 years of age. I don't see that happening unless Inter and Sneijder both lower their demands.

I think it's fair to say that Sneijder will never play for United so I don't understand why they would make these rumours resurface over and over again. Find a new, more realistic target to link us with and proceed.

They are all midfielders and they are very good, we're not allowed to sign players with that parameters anymore.

Quite.

He'd also likely need some time to settle into the league, team and country.

I've given up on us signing him but if we did I don't think he'd take too much time settling in. He's just too good a footballer.

OMG not again!

Javi Martinez is a midfielder though. Schweinsteiger would suit perfectly, but I can't see us paying for him. I'd prefer Ganso to Sneijder, because it won't cost us half as much in transfer fees & wages plus we can sell him on at a decent price.
