Smashley Young

You'd think Derry would've protested a bit more if it was as blatant dive as people are suggesting, don't you think?

I thought that at first it was a strange reaction from Derry. Maybe he's sensible enough to realise ref's don't change their minds in that situation.

I thought he was classy in the way he reacted. He's got a chance to have the red revoked no?

I'm not sure he does as there was a slight nudge on Young and he was the last man. It's incredibily harsh but luckily it's just a one match ban.

Shameful stuff from Young. It's QPR, no need to resort that sort of cheating that much early in the match.Made another clear dive in the second half

Strangely enough I thought the incident actually dulled United ... probably more so than had it not happened ... in other words I think the result would have been more emphatic without the pen/red.

Christ, he's probably the worst diver in the league after Suarez. That was embarrassing.

You are saying pretty much the same, but you are attacking me because I said he is diving cnut.

He is diving in almost every game, and he needs to stop doing it.

Yes, I swear, but I didn't said nothing wrong,

I'm giving an opinion on what he does. You're calling a player at a club you support a "cnut".

I'd say there's quite a big difference there.

Attacking the diving side of his game is understandable. Deriding him as an overall player and saying you hate him is a different kettle of fish.

I actually agree with you.The red card and the goal scored by Rooney made things way too easy for the team.

I am saying I hate him as a player because of diving, if it wasn't for diving I wouldn't have problem with him, eventough he was poor today. Same thing I hate Suarez for, Busquets, Ronaldo and similar players. No one here knows what kind of guy suarez is, but we are all saying he is a cnut because of his childlish behaviour on the pitch.

End of story from me.

There's something fundamentally wrong with actually hating a player who plays for this club. Busquets and Suarez are on an entirely different level when it comes to playacting and cuntishness than Young.

You didn't make that clear, you said you hated him and he was your least favourite player. Didn't specify that was only because of diving and even then I think it's an extreme reaction.

I also disagree that that's why Suarez is so hated on here. The Evra thing did much more on that front, as well as the world cup handball.

And the fact that he bites people, waves imaginary cards and gets mad that the other players don't get booked. And his face. You could hate on Suarez for his face alone.

There was slight contact but I think he could have stayed up. It's gay, but I'll take it. This makes me a massive hypocrite.

The worst thing about hating him is that diving is the only really bad thing he does to be honest. If he was fighting on the pitch every other game and was constantly in the news for getting into trouble with the law, then you could understand someone hating him, but that's not the case. He generally seems to be a decent guy off the field.

Well, it was kneejerk reaction after his dive. For what else could I hate him?
I find him as a good guy from his interviews.

I agree, but this wasn't clear from your initial post. You asked why you were receiving a different reaction to the other posters criticising his diving, that was why. You've explained it now though, perhaps it was a bit lost in translation before.

Well, I typed while I was watching the game, eventough I never do it. It tottally ruined my game, that why I was mad. But nevermind, we agreed. Cheers.

nah..young dived and we don't need that at united. Others have done it before and Fergie will have a word. Win it fair and square, that's what I believe and we have totally done that in the main. We have the players to win..we don't need cheating...

I love the notion that Fergie will 'have a word'. Like feck he will.

I like Young but he's a massive diver

Reason I say that is that I seem to remember some player interview a while ago where they said that he discouraged them behind closed doors. Also it certainly cut down in Ronaldo's game towards the end of his time with us. Could be hopeful though, I can't remember the exact source of the interview unfortunately.

Sure he sys that publicly, but I doubt any successful manager discourages his players from diving. Only from diving badly. It's too competitive a league and the margins are too tight for hard-nosed bastards like Fergie to give their opponents any advantage. Unfortunately.

offside prior to the dive as well :nervous:

tbh i never rated Lee Mason, I was afraid he would cock something up and he did. Im just glad it was QPR who suffered from a bad decision. that was a shocking decision, one of the worst calls this season.

Having said that- that idiot Atkinson should've sent Balloteli off and he didn't. Ivanovic and Mata's goals were also farcical. Refs had a mare over the weekend.

other than today i don't remember a stink over him diving. rooney and nani have taken more criticism over it than young.

That's because they are better players. Same with Bale, Suarez, Ronaldo, Busquets (obviously in a league of his own), Gerrard... Higher profile means they're hated more anyways, diving is then highlighted a lot quicker.

It was a former player I think, or someone that used to be backroom. I don't know, I can't remember. None of us know really, you could well be right and I might be naive.

Think it was Gary Neville but not sure. But then there is Stam that claimed in his book that Fergie told the players to dive. I think generally Fergie looks the other way if there is a dive by a United player that helps United win a game, it's the diving away from the danger areas like Ronaldo/Nani used to do by rolling around the sidelines that makes him angry.

There is a difference between diving to get penalty or free-kick in a dangerous position and diving solely to get a player booked or sent off. a big difference, and i think the latter is what pisses most people off
