Smashley Young

I hope posters who thought he was average and not happy with the signing apologise to themselves.

I don't know why people ever doubted his ability. He was a brilliant and effective player for Villa over the last two to three players.

I've not seen a winger with such work ethic. Valencia is great, however, Young is something else - he's often covered left back spot better than Evra.

I actually saw the sense in the signing very soon after it was done, but I had no idea he had this much quality. As I've often said, I think I let the stigma attached to English wingers affect my judgement. He's been quality so far.

very impressed with this kid so far. great end product and work ethic. quality addition to united

Thing is, he was Villas best player by some distance, creating everything good that they did. Now he is at United he has quality all around him, and this gives him much more of a chance to show his ability off - and he has plenty of it!!!

He's been a revelation so far. Got battered out there but carried on and did absolutely fantastic.

Young, Nani and Valencia for the wings. Yes, I'll have a piece of that thank you.

Really surprised most of us so far and if he continues this form hes a potential player of the season candidate!

I'll be honest and admit that I thought Sir Alex went mad in signing him. We had by far the best wingers in the world, bar Messi and Ronaldo who barely play on the wings anymore, and we signed yet another winger which could have caused a serious lack of game time for all our wingers when the world could see our team crying out for a midfielder.

But feck me, he's done brilliant so far and thank god I'm not the manager.

What I like about him is that it's pretty much how we wanted Nani to play on the left when Valencia was fit last season. In some ways, it looks like Young is playing as a forward that happens to be slightly to the left, whilst Nani looks "forced" on the left.

While I didn't moan about it I was one of those who was surprised when we signed him, and thought we didn't really need him. He has been absolutely sensational for us so far - has been as influential as anyone. He has stepped up to play in a better team and I'm delighted to see how well he has settled and how quickly - he's been sensational for us. The other teams have been kicking him off the park as well which shows how frightened they are of him.

He was off celebrating his first before the ball had even reached Arsenal's six-yard box.

I was just gonna bring that up myself! :smirk:

All those snobby bastards who said " he is not Utd quality" should be coming on here and holding their hands up!

Well at this moment he is not United-quality....

he is one step above

I loved his girly little scream after he'd scored his first.

Really liking Young; much more than I thought I would. Taken his game up a notch since joining us, fitting in really well.

I'll be honest, I didn't think he's adapt and play as well as he has...

He's come in, and looked the best wing option we've had since Ronaldo was a winger.

No disrespect to Nani or Valencia but Youngs movement, his ability to play the smart pass and his ability for that little bit of magic is going to make him one of the buys of the season for us.

His goals were simply awesome, and you know he'll bag more like them over the season. He's settled in so well, fantastic signing.

I said it prior to the season starting, but at £15m he's looking like one of the bargains of the season.

You can tell he's absolutely loving playing football right now. Such an intelligent and effctive footballer. Crazy that he's not starting every game for England.

This is truly baffling. I'll admit to not really knowing his game that well and hence not knowing his quality but the English management should be completely aware. How does Walcott get in ahead of him? Or even a makeshift Gerrard on the left?
