Smashley Young

Pleased for him. Doesn't change my opinion of him but it was nice to see. A great strike.

There's a couple of people on my Twitter feed who call him Francis, or St Francis of Assisti.

What on earth is that all about?

Pleased he got that goal tonight- I said at half time he needed to go for broke and take a chance. Wanted him to, but didn't think he would and was ready to see Nani come on for him. Much like Valencia, a goal does him good and plays less 'safe' which adds to our threat on that side.

If he could get back to that short purple patch he had for us at he start then he'd be bloody useful. Long shot though

Pleased for him. He started off poorly, but looked better in the second half. Even though he's not had good start to the season, he still has some endearing traits. For example, when he's doubled up on, he usually picks out some clever passes. He's looked good since the Norwich game, to be fair to him.

If I had to guess, something to do with being Evras brother because they are both black and scored 'similar goals' (not)

Rest assured, the next time he underperforms and is subbed off, the pitchfork brigade will spring to life again.

A bit too high for me. Arrogant.

Yeah, the arrogant bastard.

Fair play to him. Having a laugh with Evra in the post-match interview. He enjoyed it, deserved it because his workrate has never dropped through the shitness. Good luck to him.

He was good v Shaktar too. His movement and passing, particularly his link up with the full back, is usually very good. His crossing really needs to be worked on and should score more as he gets into great positions.

Great goal from him and seemed to give him some belief. Felt sorry for him before then as crowd were really getting on his back, his fault of course but was annoying to see players having a go at him when he was clearly fouled. Before the goal though I thought he was pretty frustrating but as I said the goal seemed to give him some confidence and he played better after.

More than anything i've been embarrassed for Young in recent times. He's been seriously under performing for too long and we all know he was capable of so much more.

He really smashed that goal in and his celebration showed the frustration he's feeling. Hopefully it gives him some confidence to show his true ability. Whatever happens in the transfer windows, he needs to be playing more football for the sake of his career.

Great goal and confidence was flowing after that cracking strike. Hopefully we see more of this from Young. Saying this, if we can bring someone in I would sell him in January and loan out Zaha.

he was dire until the goal - perked up a bit after that, but Im still unconvinced

Pleased for him.

Now we might have convinced a few suitors to buy him in January. Moyes is a genius.
