Smashley Young

Yes, he was a good crosser. He is a good crosser. I'm just saying we bought him for the whole package - his work-rate, his passing, his pace and his crossing. I'd say his crossing was far from the most important feature of his game.
Who said any different? I said what we expected, fans, not people who bought him, was for him to take on his man and put in more good crosses than he did today.

But also as mentioned he had a good game without needing to do that. Showed a lot of hunger, responsibility and picking out some good passes.

Very good today. He seems up for it in the bigger games, hope his confidence continues now and he keep up his performances.

My MoTM. Worked his socks off in midfield and even provided an assist for us. Should have had a goal for himself too.

Superb. I was hoping he'd start to click into gear with more games and today we saw the end result. His workrate out there was admirable but most importantly he was an offensive threat throughout.

For his sake he needs to keep at it.

Put in a good shift today and should have had a goal. Performances like that in games like this will go a long way for Young.

Two good performances back to back now. He's not the bet winger in he world but he's showing how laughable some of the whining in here about him was.

The last two performances from Young have been much better, fair play. Not getting carried away yet given what came before it, but the difference in his play is pretty noticeable.

Have to say the same as I did about Clev.
Great workrate, worked his socks off and was good defensively. Still don't think he's good enough on the ball though

Ok. I didn't expect that. I thought he'd play like a mix between Giggs (of the last 5 years) and Park, contributing mainly through his passing and interplay and coming inside more often than beating his man and whipping it in.

His work for the first goal was by far the best thing I've seen him do for us, it had everything you want from a player like Young.

I said a while ago he needs to step up the aggression and battle hs way back to form, I thought be did that today. He's been too quiet and passive this season. On form his decision making is the best of the wingers we have.

Sums my thoughts nicely.

He's been much better lately not only going forward but helping out Evra at left back, lets hope it continues.

A good average performance from him today....i have seen an improvement over the last couple of weeks and what i like about him is that he he is great off the ball, making runs around the back of defenders.

I'm starting to like him in the team. With him and Valencia on the wings we get excellent cover for both fullbacks. He does link up well when he's on form and is very effective on the counter attack.

Not exactly what we need in 90% of our games though.

Very good. Well done Ashley

Played well today. I'm with Will and the Godfather though. I don't think he's good enough.

Not good enough's not exactly what I meant though. I said on the ball he isnt. With his work rate and off the ball movement he makes up for most of it.

But to be one of the best you need to be better technically, especially when you play on the wing.

I think its needed in every game, especially when we defend like we have done for most of the season

Needed yes, but not enough for wingers. Young and especially Val this year aren't providing enough going forward atm.

looking good, the past 2 PL games he's involved.

i am one of his biggest critics but when he perform well you kind of happy to be proven wrong.

I'm not saying that alone is good enough to warrant a place in the team, but it does make us more solid defensively out wide.

Was happy with both Young and Valencia today, very encouraged compared to how they've both been playing lately.

He's in really good form at the moment, glad that he turned it around because he was pretty awful (like the rest of our wingers) at the start of the season. Hopefully he can keep it up because we look much more threatening when our wingers are in form.

Ashely Young is a funny one. We bought him because he still has potential to develop. Thus far, I think he is still at the level we acquired him at but if he can take the next step, much like we saw from Nani and Valencia who knows where he could end up.

Great for him that one of his best matches for us was in such a big game. Hope that dramatically enhances his confidence.

He's a confidence player. When he's not confident he's like a rabbit in the headlights. When he's on top form, he's a very clever player who'll contribute to a great team performance.

I thought he took responsibility today. Nice to see. He's an experienced international player, that's what we need from him.

He was excellent today, hope he maintains this standard, because if he can play like this, with the defensive strength he brings and we can get either Valencia/Nani back on form then our attack could be even better.
