Sherlock

It would be a welcome change up if they went back to the 19th century full time, I think modern Sherlock has nearly run it's course.
It went from clever to over the top quirky, hopefully this reigns it back in a bit

Any idea when the special will air? Would've thought Christmas, but why would they put a trailer out this early.

Also, any news on Season 4?

It's almost a shame that they revealed the throwback angle in the trailer. They could have used some old footage and thrown anything together and people are going to watch this. Would have been cool to sit down to it and 30 seconds in, being like "what the hell is going on?"
They did that a couple of months back in the first preview vid
edit: 3 months actually

I'd like to see one more season of modern Sherlock if nothing else because Moffat needs to explain how the two plot twists of the last two seasons could physically make sense.

I suspect he won't do it though, I don't think he can.

Was it bad? Not worth a watch on iPlayer?

ffs, it's not finished yet, spoiler that shit.

Thought it was pretty decent for what it was tbh.

Got a bit silly when they tried to shoe-horn it in to the modern day series and they just shouldn't have bothered.

Yeah not the best, also were they trying to justify the murders as ok? Classic Moffat having a good idea and then not seeing it through well

Moffatt seems to insist that people pay attention to his writing by doing that kind of nonsensical pseudo-mindfeck rubbish muliple times in every single episode of everything he has written for the last decade. He's bloody awful and shouldn't be allowed anywhere near another TV show ever again.

Gave up on it about 30 minutes in as it was pretty shit. Not worth finishing?

Sometimes they come off well like the penultimate Doctor who but a lot of the times with him I find he doesn't see out the ideas well or sets up something that seems good and then completely undermines it later.

I mean it was decent but ultimately I just think what did I just watch. The mystery of the episode just sort of ended, not sure what message about feminism they were trying to put across or what about Sherlock the character. I mean even the thing about his substance seemed quite out of place to what they've shown us previously.

That was incredibly disappointing and well.. lacklustre. Never thought I'd say that about Sherlock.

Worst ever episode by some distance. Not sure what they were attempting at all.

Started off alright but felt like switching over mid way through. Pretty rubbish overall.

I just don't understand why they didn't just stick with the Victorian era through to the end and then use the last 5 minutes to tie it in to the the present timeline (which they managed to make more confusing as opposed to set up for the next series).

It appeared to be the only (potentially) decent new TV drama that was scheduled over Christmas and New Year - shame it got all over-clever.

Agree, it was amazingly complicated.

The final half hour of that was some of the dumbest TV I've watched in years. Absolutely terrible.

Yep, seemed a bit pointless.

I thought it was ok for large parts, but it got unnecessarily complicated towards the end when something more straightforward would've been better.

Nothing was worse than the assassin episode in series 1, not a chance.

I've just watched it and although it wasn't one of the best ones I didn't think it was nearly as bad as some people have been telling me it is. I also thought that the problem wasn't the way they implemented the timeline changes, it didn't feel too complicated to me, my problem with it was that they did it in the first place.

I loved it, pure fun. Should have been on Christmas Day though.

That was really disappointing. The first hour was decent, after that was Dr Who levels of ridiculousness. Moffat's trying too hard to be clever. Dick.

Agree with the negative comments, I was expecting so much more out of a Sherlock episode. Luther was better.

If they went to those times they should've kept to it as a one-off. Trying to include the storyline in such a short timeframe and without anything really significant happening was a poor move.

The inception style bit at the end with the dreams and knowing they are in one... Not sure what to make of it, I got the concept but what was the point of adding it in.

The Doctor Who Christmas Special and this Sherlock special are two of the worst piles I've shit I've seen in a while. Feck off Moffat.
