Television Severance (Apple TV) | Spoiler anything that has not been aired, i.e trailer content, BTS stuff

Decided to watch this over the weekend. What a finale! Had no idea season 2 was coming this Friday so that's a stroke of luck, cant wait.

I've forgotten the entire plot, I need a summary

Are they releasing the whole season in one go?
The first episode of Season 2 of "Severance" will debut on Apple TV+ on Friday, Jan. 17, 2025, followed by one episode every Friday through March 21, 2025.

Absolute shithouses. Clearly no one has an Apple TV account and they want people to sign up for three months.

Rewatched it again with missus. Still class. Haven't been this excited for a TV show release in a decade.

Can't believe the last episode was broadcast over two and a half years ago. Jesus wept.
Modern TV really take the piss with the gaps between seasons

Game of thrones was able to release consistently every 12 months from season 1-7

There's no reason a show like Severance should take 2 and a half years FFS

I haven't been this excited about a story/mystery plot line since LOST. Unfortunate that the delay between seasons probably killed a real fandom from developing like LOST created, but this show scratched that "theory itch". I don't know how long they want Severence to go season wise, but I really miss the days of communities popping up and dedicating themselves to a show that has a mystery like this. So many communities that exist now are almost solely focused on recapping the show with very limited "mystery" discussion. I've never been able to recapture the days of a 50 page thread on a fan forum talking about "the numbers" or things like that.

You need to watch "FROM" then. There's a huge subreddit about that with people coming up with bat shit theories and taking it way too seriously.

And GoT were filming in multiple countries with a colossal cast and doing massive set pieces every season.

As intriguing as Severance is, these feckers are sitting in an empty office or wandering empty corridors 90% of the time and there is a cast of about 10!

Pretty sure the delay was because there were loads of disagreements with the producers and problems, and then the writers strike hit which fecked things more. Nothing to do with production, it was in limbo for ages.

I’ve binged this ready for season 2. Omfg what if the most incredible shows I’ve ever seen.

Great opening episode.
30 mins into the first episode and I can tell Helly R ain't Helly R
Yeah seems that way.

Also assume 5 months hasn’t actually passed and the outie reform thing and initial skit at the start with Mark was all bullshit.

Oh and Keanu cameo!

Some thoughts

Do we think the ending could be implying that the MDR team are interfacing with the chips data in real time to wholly separate or destroy the innie's ability to be another version of a sentient human? It's implied that Mark's wife is the "cold habor" file. This data comes from their chips, Ms. Casey could be a humanoid "tester", like how she's "sent back to the testing floor" to show the progress of MDRs work? Cobel seemed to be on the side of "no matter how much you try, you can't delete love/human connection", and when fleeting connections were disappearing in S1, Milcheck was saying "you know this is good right?" So basically MDR's work is actually working. The chip's abilities are being continually refined.

Helly R. being her outie self on the Severed floor was so obviously telegraphed that it seems like they wanted to shoot down any theories of a mole as a story line for this season? We are going to see her as a double agent all season (as some of the clips right at the end show in the Cobel and Helly meeting). But what's the purpose? Because Mark S. innie needs Helly as a reason to stay? And seemingly his connection to a dead spouse is a massive deal for the severance chip's development?

They seem to have held back Irving's discovery of the "outie" researching severed employees, but want us to focus on the testing floor very early. It seems as if Burt is making a comback as his outie, so Irving's outie storyline should be coming back.

Is that the goat feeder in the Cobel-Helly chat at the end?

All of the "reform" materials call it the MDR uprising. Continually referencing uprisings in the show. Firstly, obviously referencing the fact that Lumon despises what they did, placing it as an act so henoius in defying the Eagan name. Secondly, suggests the reforms are total bullshit, the ending clips seem to suggest the "pineapple bobbing" is going to be some kind of torture scene. So what's the real purpose of faking reforms?

The Eagan movie about the reforms suggest the building is literally on the same site of land as the original Eagan house (so hundreds of years in the same location). Should we read into that?

The Kier painting of "pardoning his betrayers" seems to be even more relevant this season. 4 people buried, 4 MDR's rising up against Kier's company, but Kier seems to forgive one more than the others? They even get dylan to refocus on the painting after we move away from Mark's perspective. I wonder what the intent was for us to take from that for this season?

Is there a post-credits scene or anything that I’ve missed from that first episode? I’ve read people’s thoughts and they are referencing things I don’t even remember. Perhaps I’ve been severed.

yes there are BTS / post credits clips of the upcoming episodes. skip slightly past the end credits.

Spoilering is completely unnecessary as soon as the episode has aired, it just makes it more tedious to read and discuss. People who haven't watched the latest episode should just stay out, or accept the risk.
It's a pretty simple thing to do to not inconvenience anyone unnecessarily. And it literally released yesterday, not months ago.

It's an inconvenience to people who want to discuss the show. Why would someone who isn't caught up be in here? They have nothing to add, and anything they could learn will be tainted by everyone else's knowledge of what happens in the show.

This is the way it's always been in this forum. Stuff like "next time on" is spoilered, but anything aired is fair game. Otherwise you get situations where someone posts non-aired stuff (leaks, previews, etc) in spoilers, and people read them because they think it's just normal discussion.
