Television Severance (Apple TV) | Spoiler anything that has not been aired, i.e trailer content, BTS stuff

Best ep of the season so far, for me. Some serious time jumps, when the baddy from The Tourist said Mark's stuck at 96% and the nosebleed set him back, that's post the end of ep6 right?

Yes I think so.

I think this episode answered a lot of questions, the Dr Mauer is briefly seen at the fertility clinic when mark and Gemma are there, and you see the Lumon symbol at the donor clinic. They could very easily have faked Gemma’s death, and I think she became severed willingly. The “can I see mark again” quote kinda gives this away.

My theory is dr mauer is an Egan, and when they finish cold harbor, they are gonna try and get Gemma pregnant with his kid which they will see as the rebirth of Keir.

I knew that fecker looked familiar, The Tourist! Binge watched that only before Christmas!!!!

---

Lumon everywhere in that episode, their symobols on the blood donation area where Gemma and Mark met. In the fertility centre on the forms (and Mauer spotted aswell as stated). Led them to selecting Gemma and Mark for whatever they are at?

Seems like they promised something to get Gemma to coperate for sure. 'We will take away Marks pain like yours' or something like that Mauer said - Mark clearly was angry in his own way and was emotionally removed from Gemma when the IVF failed and he took apart the crib. Gemma likely agreed to something sent out in the mail / contact from Lumon to get pregnant or something??

To be, with all the rooms Gemma goes into, the innie is a different person in each room. From afraid of flying, to dentist visits, to the already live pregnancy village - Lumon can offer an 'innie' for each scenario your 'outie' is afraid of.....or something. BUT still no idea what Cold Harbour is and why Dr Mauer was told he will ahve to say goodbye to Gemma once Mark gets to 100%.

Beautiful episode though. Has built up the foundation anyway for the last few episodes of the season.

The last episode is called cold harbor, so I assume it will be mark/gemma centric which leaves two episodes to cover

Millchick and Natalie
Burt and Irv
Dylan’s innie and gretchen
miss hoang story
The goat people
Cobel returning
Anything helly R/helena and mark

Etc etc

my fear is they have posed too many questions and very much like lost, will just not answer a lot of them

Relax. Half of those are intrigue only. Having answers to everything would suck.

The cinematography of this episode deserves an Oscar. This show is the next level of TV in every department. It's so good, it's better than TV but not a movie. It's like its own thing.

So they’ve severed Gemma how many dozens of times and all but 2 of them are in perpetual torture rooms

Pretty good episode.

I do wonder if we lose a bit of something when Lumon is unambiguously evil instead of just highly unethical.

Wow, what an episode.

I thought Mark's reaction to 'seeing' Gemma in his new state was the best bit of acting I've seen. But the scenes with Gemma in this episode...just an amazing set of fractured memories. At first I was sure we were following Marks memories...then somehow we were seeing Gemma's memories...but maybe she shared those stories with Mark...but then we are seeing the testing floor that Mark has never been to. Felt like some sort of spirit journey / ayuasqa trip by the end. Some painful moments had me in tears. I think that's an episode that will take probably 1 more season to fully unpack.

So, the workers down below who looked like the innies.... were those the same people used to look like "Twins" on the ortbo retreat?

So MDR etc. are coding solutions to some sort of dynamic severance of common fears/situations people want to avoid, and Gemma is the test dummy for it all? Why would they use her as Ms. Casey also then? I was wondering if they were figuring out how to rebuild someone after death or something like that initially. Burt is definitely up to something sinister also.

I think they eventually want her to birth Keir

Episode 7 was great. Loved the matching imagery and overall feel. Very moving. They did a great job of establishing the love between them and making you care about her.

My theory
is Gemma really did die and her death was not faked. They’ve brought her back to life. The Dr has to say goodbye to her or get rid of her when Mark is at 100% because she is merely an experiment. Mark is refining his own memories, or memories he shares with Gemma. At 100% he will have erased her completely.

But it would be funny if they just used LOST’s ending, and this is some form of afterlife and bargaining with the past.

I think mark and Gemma reuniting is an endgame they’d never steer away from, but honestly, I hope they don’t do it.

The show seems less mysterious now, but the subject matter is fascinating. They are selling a chip that lets you bypass all the negative emotions in life, but they are stuck on how to deal with grief.

Kudos to the creators, there hasn’t been anything like it.

You sound like robin from the GoT thread. Just obsessed with theories and posting them in here endlessly, can I suggest you stick them in spoilers? Not everyone wants to ruin the mystery.

Agreed. Spoiler theories please.

Yes, they needed to make you care as this appears end game rather than Helly.

My bad, will spoiler things. You could just have asked without comparing me to someone else :)

My shit theory:

Cold Harbour refers to Gemma crashing into the water and dying. They have segmented trauma and Cold Harbour is death. So when she goes through the room she’ll be sent straight to moment of the crash.

Not sure how, but it’s also possible that Gemma’s life with Mark was all set up deliberately for Lumon to be able to do all their shit. Haven’t quite worked out how though.

Anyway, quality show. Haven’t thought so much about a series in between episodes for ages.

I know exactly what you mean.
I've realized belatedly that he probably is wearing fake hair over his real hair, because in the flashbacks his hair is much shorter. So they either slick down his hair and slap a prosthetic over the top of it, or they shot everything for every flashback before every other episode in the season.

Or, in a mindfeck, his hair is really short, and they make him wear a shaggy hair prosthetic! Or maybe he has no hair at all! echo echo echo echo echo echo

Have to say more about this last episode, episode 7: it's one of the best hours of TV I've watched in forever. It should be winning all the Emmys.

Your barnet would look weird too if you had to crawl out of it every opening sequence.

No need to spoiler, you're following the rules. This is the Severance discussion thread, if people don't want to hear people's thoughts they can just not click on it. Or if it's your posts specifically, they can ignore you.

That's obviously referring to leaks, behind the scenes stuff, trailers, etc. There's no way there's a blanket rule that says you can't discuss what you think is going to happen in a TV show.

Also:

- Only speculation that is both your own guess work AND only based on episodes that have already aired can be posted.

Solius is the mod and he already agreed with me so why don’t you go suck a feck.
