Television Severance (Apple TV) | Spoiler anything that has not been aired, i.e trailer content, BTS stuff

Solius is the mod and he already agreed with me so why don’t you go suck a feck.
Solius didn't make the rules. And if he did, he's an absolute psychopath for making a rule where the only thing that's allowed in a TV series thread is to go "wow, that was so good" or "I don't think that was very good". If I wanted those kinds of reactions I could probably find them on Facebook somewhere.

That’s not what I said though is it? Nothing wrong with discussing what’s happened but for future speculation based on reading loads of stuff online and Reddit it feels like common courtesy to use spoiler tags. I don’t want the ending spoiled because of it.

Also am I going mad or has it not basically always been the way? If you’re discussing fan theories then use spoilers.

Would you like me to guess at a timeline?

What's a fan theory and what's someone saying "I wonder if this means that X"? It's all based on clues picked up in the TV show. Like, a couple of weeks ago people were openly suggesting that maybe Bert hadn't been severed. Perfectly normal discussion.

Now I completely agree that if someone is going on the subreddit and just re-posting all the top theories here, that's not cool.

You're going mad.

The last part is what I think is happening though and I thought that was obvious from my robin comparisons.

Wasn't that guy someone who had read the books and therefore knew what was coming, not someone who was reading fan theories?

I just think it’s common courtesy for the most part. Especially if it’s a theory that seems highly likely. Some (like me) like to happily watch wilfully ignorant and not thinking about it too much. I’ll get answers when they show them.

Yeah I don’t see what’s so controversial about me not wanting something spoiled that I haven’t figured out myself.

You know what, big feck you on your face, no I’m not, check out the GoT op and then you and @nimic come apologise.

Thread 'Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended'
https://www.redcafe.net/threads/game-of-thrones-tv-•-the-watch-has-ended.366179/

I apologise... for you thinking Severance is the same as GoT, a show based on books that many people had already read and were ready to spoil at a moment's notice.

That's also why I didn't read that thread, because I was a book reader. Also because I hate people.

 just admit you were wrong and move on.

Have no problem reading theories and speculation. Agree with Nimic that the thread would be boring as feck without it.

The reason they show it in weekly chunks and not all at once is surely to encourage the "water-cooler"conversation that every episode brings. I certainly look forward to it almost as much as the episode itself.

Obviously if somebody knows something and chooses to hide that knowledge in a "speculative" post about the direction of the show (as happened in the GoT thread) then that person is both an arsehole and a pretty sad individual.

But… I’m not saying not to have them, I’m saying use spoiler tags for everyone’s benefit. It takes 3 seconds max and it’s been the standard for so many popular shows on here.

Is it for everyone's benefit though? That's 50% of what this thread is about for me and others.

I know people have complained before coming into a thread and seeing entire pages of spoilers (that aren't actually spoilers) that they then have to click through to join in the conversation. Do you not see how tedious and off putting that can be?

GoT is not a fair comparison in this argument because of the books and people genuinely spoiling the show for non readers. Nobody knows what's going to happen in this apart from those directly involved with the show and no actual rules are being broken.

Sure people can be courteous and put their speculation in spoilers if they like (which I sometimes do myself) but they're not under any obligation to do so at all.

Anyone the weirdest thing about that episode that I haven't seen anyone talk about yet is why have they got 4 lookalikes monitoring them all refining?

I wondered if they were the same 4 from the woe hollow episode, we never saw them close up

Yeah I've seen that said but it's more why they have to look like them in the first place

I know we know this already but that episode really hammered home the horrible endless torture that innies are subjected to. Gemma had a room where she was in a plane crash, at the dentist, writing thank you letters over and over. fecked up. I think it's fair to speculate that cold harbour will be the worst of the lot.

Also felt significant that she has a history of being unable to have children after Mark has twice had sex with Helly now.

Thoughts on "Cold Harbor"

We had the picture that showed Kier punishing the traitors wearing a union soldier outfit and brandishing a sword. From a historic standpoint the Battle of cold harbor was the "final" victory of the Confederacy forces but it was a bit of a pyrrhic victory. The Union forces were just thrown at the confederacy by Grant because he knew he could draw on huge reinforcements and it was a total bloodbath.

So whilst the confederacy won the battle it's forces were so depleted that it then staggered onto be defeated in the final battles of the war. Some content online has referred to their being a separate "State of Kier" outside of the normal USA. Given the Severed are basically slaves perhaps the picture of Kier punishing the traitors has been manipulated and his uniform swapped from a confederacy one to a Union one. He looks far more like Robert E Lee, with the long grey beard and long hair.

Whatever side he was on this was a battle of horrendous casualties - death on all sides and death being seen as a tactic of war - like we have seen modern Russia use to try and overwhelm forces in Ukraine with no regard to their own forces welfare.

Maybe it's just a metaphor for death and they want to rebirth Kier...but I think their ambitions are to grow the state of Kier beyond it's current limits (company town...certainly...state dominance maybe....possibly separate dominion territory?

If so, conquering death (and the fear of it) would not just be something the rich could benefit from....imagine an army where no soldier fears death.

I don't know about all that but yes I think it's a fair assumption that Cold Harbour will be about
death and eliminating the fear of it. When Gemma was asked whether she feared suffocation or drowning more and she answered drowning I immediately thought that is what is gonna be her experience in that final room. Just drowning over and over again. And yeah, a product where you can remove all the negative fears and experiences from your life would certainly be appealing to people. I'm guessing the idea for the show probably came from someone thinking "what if we could remove the boring parts of day to day life?" and snowballed from there. It's a brilliant concept especially with the idea that you can do that but only if you create an offshoot of yourself that never gets to experience anything nice.

Another thought... She's (Gemma)
literally trapped on that testing floor isn't she. Whenever she goes into a room there's an innie version of her experiencing something awful over and over. When she tried to escape via the lift she flipped into Miss Casey so couldn't remember why she was escaping in the first place. Presumably then if someone is to go down the lift into testing they would switch to their outie as well? If Mark is reintegrated by then it wouldn't matter to him but might have implications if he doesn't go down alone.

It didn't really reveal how Gemma was actually taken by Lumon unless I'm mistaken. It only showed the Police coming to Mark's house at the end.

We still don’t know exactly how.

We do know that the last conversation she ever had with mark, dr Maeur used the same line on her.. no idea what that’s about
