Serie A vs La Liga Head-to-Head Draft

Anyone? Think about my suggestion? I think it can be a very nice draft.
IMO if you open up the pot like that it will pretty much be another post 60 all time draft with Bundesliga by far the weakest, next England and you'll have uneven distribution in all top players in Seria A and La Liga...

Or just seperate the two sides of the draft completely and run this as two 8 team drafts?

This might be the best way to go.

Then perhaps the final could pit a Serie A team vs a La Liga team, but all managers participate in the picking, but without conversation.

What I mean, is keep the snake orders, and each manager now has the starting pool to pick from, and they construct a team to face the other league.

That way the managers have to try and construct the best team they can, but without the benefit of knowing what other players for the team the other managers will select.

If that makes any sense at all. Basically you'd have an "All star match" after the two leagues are done, but the teams would be designed by committee, for shits and giggles to see how they turn out. Potential for some strange formation popping up, or managers picking players that all fit the same position etc.

Or maybe not. Just early morning ramblings perhaps

That could be good fun, although there mightn't be anyone left to vote with 24 managers and AMs directly involved in the match. The match thread would be carnage too . Still, no harm in trying it for a laugh if everyone fancies it.

With only one reinforcements, your team wont change by a lot till the final. Its like minor improvements and less fun if you can only pick one player.
A small price to pay IMO to have even teams with a simple solution.

It's going to be hard to strike a fine balance between two leagues imo - given how the nationalities, depth, average quality of players, number of greats etc all seem to vary drastically. There is no straightforward way to offset the imbalances.

Can only see one 'solution' where we have a standard snake draft where both pools are accessible but managers must have a minimum of 5 players from one league. Other than that, we simply aren't going to come to a consensus by introducing small changes to the current drafting procedure. For what it's worth, I like Chester's idea of opening up the blocked players which drastically increases the pool without compromising on the theme - perhaps a limit could be introduced for the number of overlapping players in one team.

Someone think up a new concept and start from scratch.

New rules
So many options to choose from...as few have said keep it as it is and who cares but they are unfortunately in the minority.

So I vote and it's my draft so in this instance i'll be Gianni

This will now become a Serie A/La Liga/Bundesliga Draft

The draft will start from scratch and the rules will be as follows:

- Each squad must consist of 4 players from each (if they played in more than 1 league the manager must specify which league they will represent when the selection is made and ability is based on this league, not career peak.
- No restrictions on whether a player played in more than one league
- Normal 16 team draft
- Before the draft commences 48 players will be blocked from any of the leagues (each manager chooses two players).
- Same age (1st Jan 1960) and nationality restrictions (must have a minimum of 5 nationalities in starting XI) apply.

The same restrictions will apply for the reinforcement stages.

We need everyone to be on board so READ the rules (Platini is blocked!!! :nono:)

If you don't fancy it let me know and we'll free up your space. If you're in, please confirm. Once we've all confirmed then I think this needs to have a new thread rather than having this messy one. New rules OP will reflect the rules above and a couple of minor additional ones.

If there is ANYTHING that needs drastically changing to the above say so now or zip it! ;)

Hopefully we can get everyone on board, keep a bit of momentum and get the draft started tomorrow morning.

Yes, this looks to be the best way to go. Relax the DoB to 1/1/1940.

Would be on board with 22 June 1955

:D Would it be cynical of me to suggest that you might have a vested interest in this outcome?

Well any restart would be in my vested interest, tbh :D But in case of Platini specifically, he probably would be picked by Balu/Joga.

Good solution btw. I'm in!

works for me, thanks for being cool with the criticism and not abandoning the draft.

alright sounds fair I'm in. We're doing the same process again or will be a standard snake 16 draft?

@Snow

Standard 16 team draft! Once we're all in the draw will be made and we can crack on!

Isotope sneaks in...surely best to get all those who originally committed to confirm they are in and then if anyone else pulls out then he's in...or he can AM someone.

So can we change the associated league in subsequent rounds? Say for Matthaus, I choose Inter version in R1, but in QF, can I switch him to Bayern version before making my reinforcement picks.
