We won’t pay €30 million for a LB that would be an upgrade over Shaw. We shouldn’t be mocking the dippers for being skint.

Yeah what is it they say about people in glasshouses shouldn't throw stones,we are in no position to mock them for not spending much

So what is the truth regarding this buyback clause because I am totally confused.

Are we even in this? The guys on the Athletic pod seemed pretty sure his agent is desperate to link him to United, but the club were less excited

As for why are the club not pushing to get a clear upgrade over Shaw for 30 million euros? I think the point is that in the modern market a fullback who is a clear upgrade over Luke Shaw would cost much more than 30 million euro.

Maybe he doesn't have enough Instagram followers for Woodwards liking.

We have a good bargaining position here. Madrid have no room for him, Sevilla have already acknowledged they are out of the race and replaced him. We may even be able to get him cheaper than 30M Euros.

Youve gotta be talking bollocks if you think 30m in the market is still over priced and poor value. Someone tell grandpa ed that times have changed. Players are expensive now. The inflation is here to stay.

Surely if this buyback clause was real then Fab would have mentioned it in the tweet earlier.

Could we not negotiate a deal for around €25m plus bonuses or is it simply a case of €30m or no deal.

Yeah too true that is a bargain in this market and Utd should realise that

Does anyone else think we're not pulling the trigger cos we're waiting to see if Alaba is available?

If it's true he's insisting on a buy-back clause then we should move on. Estupinan would've been a good move but looks like he's signing for Villarreal.

I guess that depends quite a bit on how good you evaluate him to be. I’ve not seen much of him bar a few games in August, so I couldn’t tell. If he’s defensively suspects and a back up option like some says, I do get it if we won’t spend 30m.

Stay away from Pogba and Martial

You know I expect Martial to really kick on and it wouldn't be a surprise if Madrid do knock the door in a season or two. I really hope Martial wouldn't want to leave at that time, he is just settling in and clearly has a good relationship with Ole. On the other hand being a frenchmen, its hard for him to say no to Zidane. Well fingers crossed, that Madrid fill their squad with other shiny toys and don't come for him ever.

On the other hand, I am not fussed about Pogba as I already Pogba to leave by the end of this season. Plus we may have replaced him already by VDB (let's see how he does this season). I just hope we get the top dollar for him from Madrid.

We will not be stupid enough to sanction any deal to buy a player where his contract contains a buy back clause.

I suppose it depends how much it would be for. If it was like £60 million or something then maybe I’d be okay with it.

I want to see maximum intensity negotiations in action.

Doing some stomach crunches as you agree image rights then move onto some deadlifting for signing on fees.

Did we not refuse to sign on the basis of the Halaand wanting an release clause. I doubt we would sign him and even if we did it would not include a buy back clause.

I mean, maybe this is true but it looks a lot more like Madrid and their in house newsletter are creating a market for the player.

Going by the Marca report and Sport witness article, buy back clause is flexible and can be removed. The final value will depend on the agreement we reach (with or without clause), so maybe we will pay bit more and remove the clause

Hopefully not, he'll be pining for Madrid and we'll never hear the end of the transfer stories every single window.

Unless we set it at 80m :D

Hahaha where do they come up with those phrases. So Im guessing thats another stage in the process of buying a player, maxium intensity negotiation.
So let me get this straight. Goes from monitoring the situation to preparing the bid to now maxium intensity negotiation? Have I missed any of the stages?
