Sergio Ramos

Just seen the incident again. Doesn't look malicious to me.

Wish we had someone like that in our team tbh. A winner at all costs. A cnut yes, but one you'd love to have in your team.

No chance he went out to injure Salah. He was rightly getting all over him to put him off his game and the injury was an unfortunate result. I'm equally sure he was more than pleased with himself once Salah did go off though.

He'll be remembered as a serial winner, the best defender of a bad generation of defenders, and as a cheat. I'm sure he would take that.

Would become a neutral if this guy ever joins us. 2 "accidental" fouls yesterday elbowing Karius in the face, dislocating Salah's shoulder and was laughing when Salah went off. I don't exactly remember what he done when we played them, but I remember being angry at the guy. Didn't he also score an own goal when we played them?

Brilliant big game player. Nothing seems to faze him in and around the big games. A true winner!

He has learnt from the best Pepe a world class son of a btch. To be honest I am not too outraged by a rough defender, I have loved Gentile, or Montero or Chiellini that were not gentle flowers.
What really pisses me off about Ramos is how he dives and simulates all the time without a single referee giving him a yellow card, he is disgusting from this point of view same as Ronaldo. Both great, great players mind you, but absolutely awful sportmanship. Last year in Cardiff in a match that Madrid had already won at 3-1 he got Cuadrado red carded on a ridiculous simulation. TBH Chiellini too has sometimes simulated or exaggerated on fouls but not as frequently and so blatantly.

I don't think he set out to injure him but he did deliberately foul him, in such a way that always carried the risk of injuring the opponent. If your general style of play incorporates that kind of cynical, awkward fouling as much as Ramos' does then people aren't going to give you the benefit of the doubt when such a foul injures an opponent.

both players use their arm to get ahead. When Ramos goes down, he makes sure that Salah does the same. Any defender has to do that in this situation and similar fouls happen multiple times each game. Very unfortunate that Salah got injured and I hope he recovers asap. Ramos is a cnut of the highest order but there was nothing wrong with this duel.

Ramos is so damn cynical, he has it down to such a fine art he can make it look like a accident.

There's definitely a strong case for Ramos being the best centre back of this generation.

It's normal for a player with the ball to hold off a challenge with his arms.

And it’s normal to fall to the ground together if you have your arm linked with another player, especially after the defender gets his foot to the ball and his body weight makes him go down after the tackle.

Hierro was better.

I'm a Madridista but... for real?! At this moment they are not even comparable anymore.

You are wrong mate, he will be remembered as the best and most winner defender in the history of the game.

Yeah if you’re intending to be a ‘clever’ you also have to bear the consequences sometimes when up against someone who accepts the challenge.

You're right. Ramos should have de-linked his arm from Salah whilst trying to win the ball and fallen down on his own. :)

I know Ramos is an absolute wanker but it wasn't malicious, if you think it was then you have never played a game of football in your life. When you are falling you instinctively grab, pull etc.

Come on, these things happens in literally every game. Salah was very unlucky, but to claim this was the doing of an evil mastermind is hilarious.

There was no need to shoulder slam him to the ground, he was already going down from the foot tackle.

Shoulder slam? Salah linked with Ramos first, whilst falling to the ground before Ramos did (this suggests the "shoulder slam" was instigated more by Salah). As he lost balance Ramos decided to give him some back and stay linked together. Ramos fell, Salah fell.

The idea that there was some sort of wrestling involved is just stupid. It was literally the definition of coming together. I don't blame either player for trying to get physical and I don't blame Ramos for Salah falling awkwardly. It's just bad luck.

This guy at 32 and with some years more playing in top level, is already the most winner defense in history.

On top of that, he has been crucial in all the trophies he has won, most of them as captain and leader of his team.

You can like him or not, but the guy is a serial winner and in some years that he retires, he will be remembered as the best defender in the history of the game.

A bastard. But I will be very happy if he is United player

He was brilliant. Challenge was nothing really.

He is a great player.

Agree with all of you!

Serial winner. Never shy of taking responsibility. Have guts and determination to do the dirty stuff without any hesitation. Every top manager would kill to have a captain who bring this to the table, Guardiola included.

Haters can moan all they want. The guy has contributed heavily to four CL trophies in five years. Beat that if you can!

His experience really showed. I miss having a cb that is in control and constantly looks confident.

I think defenders in general get a lot more harshly judged than they used to be.

It's true Ramos always has a mistake in him and there were years where he wasn't even the best CB in Madrid behind Pepe but what he's accomplished speaks for itself.

No he won't. He will be remembered as the best of a generation, but all the trophies in the world won't put him ahead of the likes of Maldini, Baresi, Beckenbauer & co.

I like Ramos and apart from his continuous cheating he is a great player, but come'on the best in the history of the game?:D Not even close mate, I do not think he would qualify in the top 10, let's be serious here. He is part of a very strong team that currently has few competitors but that does not make him the best of all times

One of the best leaders / defenders in football history.

Winning machine.

Maybe not the best in raw ability but he's umatched in his winning mentality.

It wasn’t, it was a foul but he wasn’t intending to break his collarbone or dislocate his shoulder

he was malicious, of course he might not have planned to break his shoulder but when falling it is not a natural movement to lock the other player arm while going down, in those circumstances it was almost certain to harm the other player

He definitely won't.

Also what's his league record like? Is there much between him and Pique in terms of winning trophies? Neither is an absolute great in terms of actual defending.
