Not going to happen as management wouldn't sanction paying the 45-50mill his club would want for to release him.
The guy is up there with ribery & kaka and so he won't come cheap.

One thing the people here who have seen more of Aguero can tell us is, is whether he's got that 'x-factor', whether he can produce a moment of a magic out of nothing to win a game. I think that's something we've not replaced having let go of Ronaldo and it'll be very rare to find in young talent with generally the only options being unearthing a supremely gifted gem like Ronnie or paying the mega-bucks for an already rated star...

He's got the x-factor and that's helped Forlan and Atletico to do so well.

On the general point, Atletico really need to keep him and if they lose him it's no surprise that they'd insist on the full release clause fee.

Despite their financial problems they are very thin on strikers and losing Aguero would make them very dependent on Forlan. That's why I thik we keep hearing about player swaps - unlikely as they are in real life, Atletico would need to buy fast so I'm sure a lot of reporters (and even managers) are playing the what-if game - it's more entertaining than talking about cash.

They are getting 40-50m for him they can buy a striker or two if he left.

Huntelaar was only really in the English press.

Aguero to United (haggling over the price) rumours have been flying round the Spanish press for a while. With the other Atletico stories bouncing around it does like either Aguero or Forlan is being sold.

The Huntelaar to United rumours were probably a result of my one-man crusade to bring him to OT.

I can see this happening...i'm convinced we're going to pull a big name or two out of the bag...

What's going on in this thread then, was there any news about Aguero today that I missed?

for the life of me I dont see why some people are so adamant about us not going after someone big. every time a name comes up the same posters are knocking each other over trying to post it aint gonna happen. despite the fact that over the years SAF has been very willing to pay big transfer fees for a player he feels will fit his thinking. Rooney, Rio, Veron, Berba. He was even willing to part with 25 million for Tevez. if SAF thinks Aguero is the player that will make a difference especially in the big games then we will be in for him

Would be great, he's a superb player, just can't see it. Would like to be wrong.

Diego Maradona says Argentina ace Sergio Aguero would leave Atletico Madrid for either Manchester City or Chelsea if they made a move for him.

Aguero is one of the most sought-after players in Europe after impressing for club and country in the last year.

Atletico Madrid are determined to keep hold of the prolific striker with all of Europe's top clubs credited with an interest in his services.

Aguero, who is seeing Maradona's daughter, has insisted he is happy with life in the Spanish capital, but Maradona has given suitors of the striker encouragement by claiming the 20-year-old would consider a move to England.

"If Chelsea, City or Inter Milan come in with sufficient money then Atletico will take it - it is the law of football," Maradona told Marca.

"If they can pay the right money then they can take Kun (Aguero).

"I don't particularly want Kun to leave Atletico but I always try to tell the truth and all those clubs must know what will happen if they come up with the cash."

Inter or Chelsea would be good, but City would be a huge step backwards for the lad. Maradonna is just listing the clubs with money, either that or he hates us.
