Brilliant player, and if we didn't have Pogba I'd be very in favour of us signing him. He's not the answer.

I love UTD but I personally would hate to see one of my country's top attacking talents getting wasted in Mourinho's system.
That being said I don't really think he is the type of player we need, no matter the immense talent and quality that he undeniably possesses.

I was watching the Napoli x Lazio game, and got to watch the first half. Very entertaining game, especially when I wasn't watching and Napoli scores three goals. 
But Milinkovic-Savic caught my eye roght away, the guy has size, movement and ability. He was covering in the front of the area, clearing space when on the ball, spreading balls all over the field. This is a great, great player.
But I didn't get to see the second half to understand what happened that got Lazio destroyed.

I mean if he is using Lingard in that position...
Does he have a choice?,not playing lingers means we play mctominay as the third midfielder..
I rather play McTominay than Lingard. Lingard is NOT an 8. He's not specialized in breaking up play. Jose is an idiot. He clearly shows favoritism and just because certain players track back, they are automatically selected. We need a Master of one and not a jack of all trades. If Pogba is not really a defensive minded individual despite his physical attributes, stop playing him there. It's plain and simple. Physical attributes is not all what's required to be a DM, you need the mindset and discipline for it as well. If Kante was under Jose, he would never have become the defensive minded machine that he is today based on his physical attributes.
Mctominay plays too safe,if we play him then pogba will have to play like a defacto 10and am nt sure he is that good in such role..I feel if Herrera wasn't injured,we could have managed with him

Mctominay isn't a specialist either,he is still learning..it's all well wanting to play 4-3-3 but our available midfielders can't play such currently..
I think we should have tried Pereira and Pogba as No. 8 and Matic behind them. Jose stuck to his 4-2-3-1 which led to him going out the door.
Am nt sure Pereira is that good a cm,he seems more comfortable on the wing and as a delightful crossing technique...if Herrera hadn't gone off form so badly,a 3 might have worked.
It's better than playing Lingard as a No. 8. Lol... Anything is better than playing Lingard as a No. 8. He just takes a ball and drives which may work against some teams but against the more experienced ones, he'll be marked closely which nullifies his preference which leads to side ways passing. I'm not a fan of McTominay but he could be used to protect Matic and give Pogba some license to venture forward without having the need to worry in defense. You can't expect Lingard to do that since Lingard will always play higher up the pitch than Pogba irregardless of the formation.
I think Pereira can play in a midfield 3 whereby he links up with the RF or the RB when playing RCM. In that position, if the RF moves inwards and RB is making overlapping runs, he could be used to cross the ball into the forwards. Pereira has decent technique when it comes to shielding the ball and has a decent work rate. The problem is that when Pereira was used in pre season, Mourinho played a 4-2-3-1 formation where he featured in a midfield two and neither of the times was he played with Matic and Pogba in a midfield 3 because we had to accommodate Mhiki and Mata back then. So we will never know
Possibly has something to do with him being nailed on the bench and seeing Fellaini getting the chance before him well into the season. If Mourinho had any intention of sticking to 4-3-3 he would have done it from the start or at least after the Everton game where we dominated.
He could work in a 433, but Matic would need to be replaced IMO

If it is a CM position, then play McTominay ahead of Lingard. Its the whole Rafael in midfield situation. If you have a specialist midfielder, use him over trying to shoe horn in an attacking mid into CM.
It would be great to see a midfield of Matic, Pogba and SMS. But unfortunately, it doesnt seem a balanced midfield.

I absolutely agree with this.
Love Pogba and Matic but neither are the proper midfield general type that we are no doubt lacking right now. Would love to see one those two come in and take some pressure off Pogba and really allow him to flourish
Another all action midfielder won't solve our problem, we need Weigl.
I don't think we need a hard tackling midfielder with Mctominay in the mix, what we lack over the years since Carrick's absence is deep lying playmaker. A player who can dictate the midfield play.

Definitely agree with the ones saying we need an aggressive bastard in the middle, someone that will scare other teams and be hated by other fans. Someone that tackles Hazard on the shin and then screams at the referee afterwards when receiving a yellow card-type of guy.

TBH you’re looking for a more aggressive and skilful Herrera and I’m not sure there are too many around anymore
I think the two Atletico players are probably the most similar to a 'aggressive and more skilful Herrera' I can think of - Koke and Saul.
That’s who I had in mind. They also fit the Jose mindset; aggressive, hard running, close space quickly. Would easily give Pogba freedom

He's a really good fit for Juventus, come to think of it. Allegri has crafted a coherent midfield trio in recent weeks and months, and Milinković-Savić could be the final piece of the jigsaw - with Pjanić the accomplished architect in midfield, Khedira (or Can if/when they sign him) as a defensive box-to-box, and Milinković-Savić operating as a proactive attacking box-to-box à la Pogba.
Hope they sign him so we can get Kovacic from RM.

He's not a controlling midfielder, nor is he a box to box midfielder i.e. Nainggolan, Vidal, Khedira, Matuidi.
If we're going to get a midfielder, then they should fit one of the profiles above, in my opinion.

Not sure on the validity of the pogba situation with Jose. If this lad comes it would be to replace pogba not play with him.no way he plays in a mid with pogba.
