It can't be underestimated how important another right back is for us this season.

It's our main attacking outlet on a flank in which we would otherwise have no width. Mkhitaryan, Mata and Lingard (when they play there) all drift inwards, leaving Valencia a lot of work to do going forward.

But Valencia is 32 and clearly required a fair bit of rotating last season. He needs the quality cover and competition in the form of an attacking right back. Left back is fine when Shaw returns, and Darmian can hold the fort until that happens. But if we lose Valencia on the right then we're up shit creek.

If not Aurier then someone else, but it needs to happen.

Others have said that his attacking is not his strength.

I can't understand the 3-5-2 with WB's that don't attack/overlap

That’s true and neither can anyone else. Until the hearing I guess no one really knows but if we’re putting a deal together you’d think our solicitors think he has some sort of case.

Well I don't know. Maybe they presented a case where it would be difficult for him to earn a living if he went to prison. Most countries won't allow him in if he's been in the can. Maybe the condition is that he leaves France. Who knows.

I'm doubting it as Boufhasi hasn't said anything, he's always spot on French transfer going's on.

Well, he can't be as useless as Darmian going forward, and he's our current go-to option in the event Valencia picks up an injury. I've seen little of Aurier, but I've always got the impression he's fairly decent going forward. I mean, he's got to be better than Darmian, right?

Where did you hear that? His attacking is at least better than Valencia's. He's got a good final delivery on him. Great on the ball and always willing to take players on. Whoever said that hasn't watched him.

True ***. Or going back.

But seriously that's no benchmark to even be effective

Not excited by the idea of signing Aurier. Good player but why can't Fosu-Mensah get a go? Darmian might be too passive/defensive but Timbo's got the pace and power to get up and down. If we were getting Carvajal that'd be one thing. We ain't though.

Bargain I would say then. He looks a beast.

He is. He's got 3 lungs in him. Great composure. Great tackling. Good attacking player with good crosssing. Really a good all round player.

The French boys on the forums told me. I asked for caff French league experts to inform me of him.

Should have known better than to expect a consensus

He's a better crosser than Darmian, no question.

Nah he's good attacking any time I seen him. He's not afraid to take the man on or play the ball in tight situations. He's also up and down that right wing like a whippet. Really don't know where this 'not great at attacking' comes from, if you watched him. I mean he's not great at attacking if you compare him to Marcelo or Danny Alves but he's definitely better than Valencia.

Twitter folks saying it's a 5 year contract with an annual salary between €4.5M-€5M a year.

If this is official, great buy. Has to get his trial stuff cleared up first tho lol

Weird that it's coming out now considering its over a week until his appeal.

Yeah could well be a goer but no point getting excited until the trial, we'll see what happens after that.

Would be my favourite signing of the summer. Been lacking real quality from an attacking full back for a long time and he offers that. So much of our game is hinged on attacking full backs and we have been inefficient for too long in thus department!

Modern football is so reliant on good fullbacks or at least fullbacks able to penetrate the lines so I'm amazed it's taken us until now to rectify this problem. I like Valencia but I feel he has little awareness or intelligence in the final third beyond smashing it into the box, we need more creativity from that position.

I just watched this long montage.

Feck me he is rapid and balanced to go with that. It's criminal he hasn't got more assists done of those crosses were wicked. Also those hard and clean slide tackles are something to behold.

If the rumours are true then Him and Lukaku will have a field day getting on the end of those.

Makes one wonder why he's being offloaded on the cheap.

He's not on the best terms with PSG. Has legal trouble in France. They also have another right back called Thomas Meunier (who I feel is better) and Danny Alves obviously.

He's definitely not bad attacking or anything of that sort lol

If we sign this guy, I can't help but think that Valencia will get some games starting as a winger again.

Like others have said, if a deal was offered etc. the club must be feeling confident that it'll work out.
That said, everyone around our club also seemed to think Atletico's legal issues would have cleared up too.

Almost agree. Very important signing.

Is he tall enough for us and can he cross?

Height, not so much as the others bought in lol. Listed as 5'10ish.

Can he cross? Absolutely. Rapid fecker at RB. Elite mentality as well, will win at all costs. Would definitely do bits for José if official. Bargain.

...Paris United have confirmed the move on Twitter. They're one of the most reliable sources out there and pretty much money more often than not when announcing deals. Very shocked at why PSG would give up Aurier at such a cheap price. Are they really that desperate to recoup any sort of money to make the Neymar buy that much less of a blow to them?
