Carrick but with more power. Ill take that for sure.

He can shoot so probably not being looked at to be a pure CDM, perhaps to play in a midfield with McTominay and Pogba in a 4231/433 formation.

If Pogba is leaving then we could be planning for...

Longstaff McTominay
Fernandes
Id take that for next season before Matic and maybe even Fred are sold for replacements.

Perhaps he's more to provide competition for McTominay? Matic is done, Fred is unreliable and Herrera and Fellaini gone. Makes more sense to me and I imagine Ole is preparing for another season with Pogba unless an outrageous offer arrives, so more like this:

If Only we could get Rabiot and Fernandez. a midfield off Rabiot, Longstaff and Fernandez would be allround. i wouldn't selling Pogba

Obviously not seen much of him considering he has played 9 games but from what i have seen is better than Rice. He reminds me a bit of Mctominay but a better passer. Fred, matic, pogba, mctom, longstaff does not sound fearful at all. Still lacking a runner and creativity. Would much prefer to use the 25m to fund a move for Neves.

it doesn't have to sound fearful though, it just needs to be effective

Gamble, of a signing from not alot of top league football, but from what's been said and the few times he's played he looks very good.

Oles going for young blood, and this guy fits the mould, hes got a Carrick look about him , although I don't like comparisons, prising him away from the Toon, may be hard, hes a local boy, and probably wants more time at Newcastle?

But a fair transfer price should make them sell? If he wants to come.? £28 million I bet he goes for plus add ons?

Think he was rumoured to cost between 80-100m when City were sniffing around in January.

I'm all for taking a punt on Longstaff.

That is a mid table team. Everyone is completely overrating these players in our squad and some that we are linked to or have already signed. James, McTominay, Longstaff should be no where near our first 11 in my opinion. Squad players yes, but going a season with a team like that is shocking for man uniteds standard.

I guess at 25m and at current price levels, it is not so much a risk!

Good lord... And know imagine this without Pogba  That's top 10 quality at most.

I must be honest and say I’ve not seen him play but looks incredible on that YouTube vid posted

Does anyone know why he has not played any international game at any level?

Because England’s youth scouts are not the best. The amount of players who don’t get a look in until they get into their club’s first team doesn’t reflect well. He was getting talked up for the 21s or possibly seniors before getting injured.

People are missing the point. Previously, we could let him stay at Newcastle and develop further. But things have changed and no-one needs money now. So you end up paying huge money for epl talents. Look at Maddison or Maguire for e.g.

I am perfectly fine with signings like James and Longstaff as long as they dont come to us as a first team option. You got to take a chance and see if it works.

Video clip showed 3 long passes and about 5 tackles and he is Carrick now or Carrick but tougher Carrick vibes etc. Serious reaching going on. I wish him the best but if Arsenal signed him you'd be laughing. I thought United signed the BEST players from other teams

You could get a YouTube video of Pereira that looks just as good if not better.

Agreed.

I think the PL stands out more than any other league at this. Barcelona can still buy players from Valencia or Atl Madrid for example. In England there is teams like Wolves apparently attempting to go for the title in a year or two whilst the PL already has a top 6 that still has clubs like the title winning Leicester or the hard fixture basis at Everton or West ham. Newcastle & Leeds are possibly getting taken over too.

We used to be a club that used to buy off Spurs, Leeds, and even Arsenal & these type of transfers look less likely to happen now.

I am okay for us to possibly go a transfer window solely concentratong on getting a bunch of homegrown youngsters at a batch at the time - only because in the future we need to be good at something like this whilst also getting the more ready made players or hyped up youngsters from other countries.

Since when? We've hardly ever done that apart from raiding Arsenal that one time.

But he's not a proud BRAVE English LION.

Scouting really is the key here. Scouting and personality assessments like the good old days. From youtube you could say Longstaff is the next Carrick. You could equally say that Longstaff is the next Possesbon/Tunnicliffe/Cleverley/Pereira etc

You could also watch Longstaffs games in the PL and see hes already surpassed anything Pereira has done in the PL

I dont think SMT/Longstaff are ready for starts and you still need to replace James / Rashford/Pogba(he is leaving) with top quality players if you have any ambition to get into top4. this team can still finish in top6 though.

If Lukaku/Pogba leaving then we seriously need to buy 4/5 quality players in this window to fill in front 6 postions.with 250+ millions on players sales I would go for at least one from each row below

Felix/AG/Werner/Haller/
Richarlison/Pepe/Sancho/Benjwein/
Bruno/Van Beek/Maddison/Erickson
Rabiot/Barrella//Aouar/Harvertz
Ndombele/Neves/

This is our Summer business really? David James and Neville Longbottom.

I wouldnt have a problem with such signings if we were signing these ontop of what we need. We need at minimum 5 new first team players. RB, CB, CDM, RW, ST
Yes that's it. That's our entire summer business. Because... reasons and shit.

Him or Rice?

Him 100%, he is so underrated here, he so cool on the ball never panic and can come out of the press so smoothly, and he has a shot in him.
