Seamus Coleman

He mostly played right back for Sligo too as it happens.

O rly? I always had it that he was a RW that Everton moved further back to give game time to originally. I don' think I was in the Showgrounds once when he was there and Rovers weren't on telly as much as they are now.

I love the reluctance to give Moyes any praise for anything he's had a huge hand in.

Moi? I think you've the wrong man here.

Robbie Boy. Seems to be trying to come up with any excuse he can to make it seem like he's better now that Moyes has gone and that Moyes misused him.

Errrrr, not at all. You completely mis-read my post of that's what you took out of it. I was praising Coleman and there was no criticism of Moyes of any sort. Coleman has been extremely impressive for the past 18 months or so, but I feel he is playing his best football this season. Moyes can take huge credit for his development. You are obviously looking for something in my post that isn't there.

He is probably the Everton fullback we should be going for but then he doesn't play on the left and we already have Rafael

I'd love it if we had him, but there's nothing atm between him and Raf. Not the player we need or will want.

Sagna's obviously trying to get a few more quid on his new deal. He won't go anywhere.

As for Coleman, he's a very good player, but I still think he's a little bit patchy defensively at times.

You lot seem to be the new Spurs of over valuing your players. As good as he is, he's a full back for heavens sake.

And? In the prime of his career, an important player for us, no reason to let him leave. We will have no intention of letting him leave cheaply.

I actually think that in comparison to most full backs he is one of the best defensively. He was a little shaky early on in the season but I think he was just adjusting to being a more attacking wingback again as at the back end of 2012/2013 he was simply excellent defensively, rescuing points for us.

I think it's lazy to question his defensive abilities. Obviously early in his career he struggled with the defensive aspect of his game but it has improved so much over the past 18 months.

Man, I wish he was left footed. Rafael on one side, Coleman on the other would've been sweet

If you're looking for 15m I'd go looking elsewhere if I was arsenal.

Isn't that the point of putting a £15m price tag on him? Everton don't want or need to sell, therefore his price is driven up.

He's having some season. Class player and the best RB in the league this season by a mile.

Comfortably the best right back in the league.

Replacement for Alves at Barca? Who knows.

It's strange. I'm thrilled we have Rafael - but I want Coleman too :( Such a greedy soul. Can't we have two right backs?

Martinez has brought the best out of him but Moyes deserves massive credit, what a signing!

Hopefully Coleman keeps this form up for the rest of the season. If he does then every top club should be interested.

Future Ireland captain too! :)

He is having an excellent season. I still think we should go for him I mean he will only get better and Rafael isn't exactly durable is he. I would rather him join us than go to a rival.

Rafa is 23 and pulled his groin slightly. He isn't Kieron Dyer. Plus, he's better.

I don't think he is better if I'm honest, but I don't think Coleman would be such an upgrade to justify his purchase.

He is. He's shut out some of the best attackers in Europe and been a key performer at Manchester United, league champions and one of the best clubs in Europe. He's been playing for said club fairly regularly, when fit, since he was 18. Coleman is having a nice season at 4th placed Everton.

Rafael and Coleman are pretty similar IMO, little if anything between them.

He has done more than just pull his groin in the past few seasons. Besides theres nothing wrong with depth.

Have faith. He managed all of last season. I agree with Irwin when he says there is little justification for purchase. Both are too good to act as cover.

Rafael is younger so you'd expect him to keep improving but I think Coleman is currently better. Rafael has never reached the level Coleman has been at so far this season. Rafael was better last year but even then, Coleman was very good.

I'd agree with Irwin though, the difference wouldn't be worth the fee.

I would argue he reached that level last season. And defensively, I don't think Coleman leaves a glove on him to be honest. Going forward, there is a debate to be had.

Nah, I'd have to disagree. Coleman has improved a lot defensively over the last season or so. That isn't a weakness in the way it used to be. Plus it's not like Rafael is flawless now either.

Rafael was roughly on par with Zabaleta as the best right back in the PL last season, but Coleman is the best by some distance this year.

Coleman has to sustain this form and even if he does Rafael probably has more potential than him. That said, right now Coleman is better, I think.
