Seamus Coleman

I have to admit, he was damn good today. I do think he's a little one dimensional going forward. He's very much a kick and run player, but it works. Defensively, my grandmother could do well today on that right back position.

He kick and ran through half our team at one point. Of course its called dribbling and hes good at it.

In all seriousness, he was excellent today. Really impressive, he does not seem to be frightened about going up against anyone whether its in offence or defence. Very great trait to have for any footballer.

He was brilliant, no doubt. He found it very easy today to just kick and run through our entire team; I can't recall him actually doing any dribbling, but he might be good at it. Great performance!

Could you ask her to run down her contract so we could get her on the cheap?

He has nobody to deal with all game, so no surprise he looked good. Not saying he doesn't usually look good or anything, but we didn't have anyone down his side all game, except Buttner (lol)

probably the first time I realised he wouldn't be a bad addition.

The worrying thing is how many of their players you could say that about

Maybe you missed the match

Probably added 20m to his valuation today, great stuff. Wont be coming here that's for sure.

Just highlights how weak we are in the full back areas for me.

Only one natural right back (who is unfortunately made of glass), and only two natural left backs (one of whom is entering the twilight of his career, the other some way short of being top class).

These positions need to be addressed in the summer, along with central midfield.

Excellent player, good thing he's with Everton as he'd be terrifying in that Liverpool team, Glen Johnson has been fairly mince recently, Coleman would be a huge upgrade for them.

Yep, swap Buttner and Smalling for Baines and Coleman and the result today would probably have been very different. Not sure I've ever seen two sets of full backs look so far apart in terms of quality considering how close the two teams are in the league. Buttner really wasn't helped by Kagawa to be fair to him, and we all know Smalling isn't a right back.

Can see Coleman getting a big move if he keeps this up. Wouldn't be a bad replacement for Dani Alves, and would possibly be an upgrade on Lichsteiner for Juve. If I were an Everton fan, I'd be delighted he's not going to the World Cup(unless I happened to be an Irish Everton fan, of course).

It was probably the best RB and LB in the league vs. Buttner and Smalling, who are at least the worst pair in the top 7.

Ive not seen THAT much of him defensively, hes wonderful going forward, id like to see him up against a player that is just going to run and run at him and see how he does, Hazard or somebody like that, before claiming he should dislodge Rafa

Everton are 1 point off champions league football. He's been dealing with top players all season. Open your eyes man

Our FB are being highlighted thanks to the failing / non existent Tactics.

Your Defence is only as good as your tactical approach. A great defender can gives you an edge in a tight 1 on 1 situation, but 90% of the game it's won as a tactical defence "as a unit". You can't simply mark everyone on your own, and you'll need coordination with your teammate, especially for marauding wing backs. You're gonna ended up looking like an idiot if you bomb forward and your teammate fails to cover you.

Give us a proper manager and I bet Buttner, Fabio, Evra, Rafael, even Smailing won't look so out of place

Nope, and I thought he was brilliant, but very much a kick and run character from what I saw.
Didn't see Sunday's game, but from I've seen this season, I think Coleman has got great technique on top of pace. Also seems to make pretty good choices on the pitch which would suggest at least a tad of a football brain.

Would be an upgrade on Rafael in my opinion.
The only thing I have against the signing is the money Everton would demand.

Right back isn't the biggest priority really, I don't see this happening.
Arsenal should be in for him though.

He's really good defensively, and is excellent in attack. Complete full-back.

Coleman has pace, skill and is as good a defender as you could reasonably want from an attacking RB.

If I was going to pick out a weakness from what I've seen it'd be a slight tendency to try and play his way out of trouble in dangerous areas. In a way that's a good thing though as it shows the sort of confidence and attitude he has but I have seen him get caught a few times when he should just clear it. Still, I certainly think he has the mentality to step up on the big stage.

Certainly the MOTM yesterday for me - his drive was amazing. As much as I have a man crush on Rafael, if his injury problems of this season don't show signs of abating, then this one play I definitely would want us to try get.

I'd like to see Varela get a chance to stake his claim.

The pressing needs are two central mids anyway.

Do you think he relies a bit too much on his pace defensively because when I've seen him for Ireland he can certainly get caught in bad positions but has the pace to get away with it. Mind you he has to try be a lot more creative for Ireland with hardly any support on the right.

I think he's actually quite good positionally in terms of how he's going to tackle the opponent. He seems to have a knack of knowing how to place himself to shove the opponent off the ball even if they're bigger than him.

Good to hear. He seems like he's really come on the last 2 - 3 seasons.

You're right about the tracking back thing though, Kevin is bloody brilliant at doing so, although everyone in the team is and actually has a desire to rather than thinking it isn't their job to do so.

He definitely has, his improvement has been nothing short of phenomenal. From being a Championship level RB to one of the best in the world in his position (top 10 possibly).

I'm delighted with his and McCarthy's progress from and Irish point of view. Has McGeady been used in a more central role too. I think getting that lad start producing a few good through balls and crosses to compliment his running game is a big challenge but he looks more confident now following his move. I hope he gets a good run in the first team next season.

Moyes will never get any credit for that either - especially with the fickle "Tofu" fans.. Pathetic really!

Why the hell are you callin him Kevin btw? Kevin Kilbane??

If true, you's lot really have a shit sense of imagination!

He's been the best RB in the league this season without a doubt, but we are sorted in that position and Rafael is one of the few players who can hold their head up and say they played well this season.
