To be fair I think January is always difficult because most clubs struggle to get a replacement in if they loses player, hence they wait until the summer.

United need to act decisively and quietly to get their business done early. It stops the rumours and keeps the pressure of the players, management and club.

Difficult month maybe, but not if you've already made contact with said club & had the deal agreed well in advance. Cabaye deal could have been sorted on the 1st of January as Ashley wanted the dosh asap.

A problem with the ghost of January past is, that most top class players wont want to move their life when the world cup is coming up. The upheaval could cause a serious loss of form & they risk losing their place in their nations WC squad... Dont think i'd wanna move if i was confident enough in my own ability to secure a move in the summer instead!

Good for Everton indeed. Really would have liked to see him here in place of Rafael but priorities elsewhere right now.

Seriously? Valencia isn't a right back. Coleman's positioning, tackling and marking is 10x better than Valencia's.

Only on here you find people saying they are comparable. Put it this way; ask 20 completely neutral (from both sides) fans who they would rather have at RB and the answer will be rather conclusive. Seems Valencia has gone from being ridiculed to being rather overrated by some. It's always one extreme to another.

this thread is five years old so I've moved everything since the bump to a new one. Please don't bump ancient threads!
