Scott improved a lot since ETH came in. Remember he legit benched Casemiro the first 6 games. Problem is he’ll never get enough of a run to hit his rhythm. He’s an attacking player who’s pretty good at carrying the ball but also good at defending and set pieces. I would also want him sold but not at desperation prices like £30m. Bloody hell if Rice is worth £100m then we’d be foolish to accept anything less than £40m for Scott. He scores for Scotland all the time as well.

One of the biggest issues is he hasn’t improved in years and a much better measure of his value is not what Rice cost but the fact that when West Ham were quoted 40m they signed a different player and ended their interest.

He’s on a great scoring run for Scotland and that’s why have to capitalise now, people forget they at start of qualifying campaign he was on the bench for Scotland because he hadn’t been good enough to start in midfield for them.

who are the better Scottish midfielders? im Scottish and a fit McT plays all the big games for sure.

I don’t think they are coming back in for him

they bid that 30m, we rejected it and they immediately bid for JWP and got him

now they need a different sort of player

More like slowly integrate Casemiro into the squad. Never benched him. He's good at timing his runs into the box but besides that his best attribute is his physicality, that says everything. Rubbish technique and cowardly in his positioning, hiding as an option and a terrible passer too.

This is what I was thinking, it would be JWP and McMayo in the middle in front of Edson Alvarez.

He is nowhere near good enough to be a United player.

He is not as bad as some posters are making it out to be. A level below top 6 maybe, but some are making him out to be Ali Dia or something. He can certainly score goals in PL and if he gets a decent move he will be a star player, just not for us. EtH is not stupid to slap a £40 million price on Scott . We need to stop let lower teams take the piss out of us because we need to get rid.

He will certainly alleviate some PL teams.

No, he wasn't. McT of 2019-2021 was far superior player than what we have today, and i wish we stop this "benching casemiro" narrative, as it was obvious that Casemiro was always going to play, he just needed more time to adapt to PL.

ETH won’t have set the price and whoever has set it will look stupid if we can’t sell him especially as DVB transfer seems to be falling apart. So far all we’ve done is sell Fred who was ahead of both Mctominay and DVB in the pecking order.

Mctominay could go elsewhere and do well, he could also end up a squad player at likes of West Ham. Scoring goals will be the key for him as rest of his game is very ordinary.

Jeez will be fuming if we end up bungling this Amrabat deal because can't sell DVB

JWP was *always* first choice.

Moyes wants to spread goals around the team and JWP basically guarantees 10-15 G/A a season which is a decent number for a central midfielder.

I still wouldn't rule our going for Mctominay, especially if Paqueta does end up leaving however I think we only go to 35m max, we may even stick with 30m but more upfront if we see Paqueta leave.

Simply won't be getting him for that price, maybe 35 plus add ons. United are in a strong position with him. Not sure how cash rich West Ham can dictate terms when it's pretty obvious United won't sell him for less than his market value.

Hang in there, I'm sure you'll get promoted from the newbies eventually. At the current rate, it shouldn't take more than four years or so.
Getting promoted doesn’t make you a good poster, I’m a dreadful poster and I got promoted years ago.

Matic is leaving Roma for Rennes.

Expect a loan with an option bid driven by Mourinho, which obviously we should go nowhere near.

This fecking narrative again . It just won’t die. Shamelessly brought up time and time again from some posters like Mctominay benched Casemiro because of performances. Nothing to do with us just signed Casemiro late in the window so trying to gradually introducing him to a new team in a new league. No, Mctominay just benched Casemiro. That’s it. It’s such a disingenuous deceitful narrative used conveniently to prove a point.

Quite a small sample size to claim he's scoring "all the time". At one point Gary Neville scored on two consecutive weekends.
It's very recent and he is now playing in midfield with a license to get into the penalty box. Previously he has been playing as a CB for Scotland.

I've criticised him massively but also think he showed some development last season though he will never be remotely close to Casemiro's level.

For a squad player though he picks up a lot of knocks, the point of one of those are that they are consistently available to be called upon which he isn't.

Yep and I'm sure we can get 25/30m for McTominay next summer if needs be.

Wasn't there a rumour about Roma being interested in case Matic left... which he now has. And we all know Mourinho really loved McT

McT is a useful squad player but not a starter in a game you care about. Still good enough for West Ham first 11 though.

So you don't see him lose value in a context where he is likely to play even less this season and will be 12 months away from the end of his contract(assuming we don't trigger the one year clause)?

Yes which is why I'm saying he'll be worth that amount(25/30) rather than the amount we'd want for him now which is 40/45.
