how the hell is scott mctominay still at this club? We constantly complain about players staying too long yet people still try and argue for players like scott to still be here. Shouldve taken that damn 60 mill double offer.
Have a feeling that's the best offer we're ever going to get for these two. They'll go for £10m each next summer.

How Scott continues to survive the cull is extraordinary. Years of being poor to average have no impact if you are a youth product

Because he’s happy to sit on his arse as sixth (soon to be seventh when Mainoo returns) choice midfielder. He’s a waster.

He's firmly entrenched as a bench/backup player, which should have been the case the majority of his time at United.

He's been given more than enough time to showcase his potential and while he was able to score a few good goals, his overall ability isn't good enough to start.

Totally fine for him staying as a bench player and if nobody wanted to meet the realistic value of him (35M to 40M quid, contract until June 2025), so be it.

I think selling him would have been the best decision (including for himself) but considering we signed Amrabat... I don't mind Scott being an utility player, really.

yep. and then we wonder how city get like 45 for palmer. WE'd be the types to hold on to him for 4-5 years, hardly playign him, then sell him for like 4 million tops

In 5/6 years - when has anyone ever seen Scott have a good run as a #8? I see this on here a lot about how he ‘needs to play further forward’. Is McTominay a player Manchester United want on the ball in the final third?
He's played as an 8 a lot of times under Ten Hag.

Agreed.

We tried to sell him but he rejected Fulham.

Like Maguire, he's happy enough to stick around and not play football.

Based on reports, it would appear that the players themselves are a much bigger hindrance than the people making the decisions at the top.

Now you can ultimately draw this back to unnecessarily large contracts that should never have been handed out, but this is where we are.

It’s a terrible lack of ambition from the players, really.

Fulham could've been a good springboard for McTom.

I'm expecting Amrabat to be much better so it's difficult to see how much McTom will play.

So, he is now officially 6th or even 7th choice (depending on Mainoo). And we rejected 30 mil? Unbelievable business from club who has FFP problems.

The window seems to suggest that we value McTominay more than anyone else

had we done business with West Ham then Amrabat would be established at United with perhaps enough for another player/better left back

Unlike Bayern to get things so badly wrong

Yeah their fans in the Palhinha thread are saying the same although my take away from the outside looking in is that Fulham have made themselves look really unprofessional. Bayern probably should have gotten it done earlier though.

How is this shower of shit still United player is beyond any reasonable explanation.
I have said it before and I will say it again he is connected and protected from upon high at United. It doesn't take rocket science.

He'll be a cult hero at Fulham now.

He's allowed them to keep Palhinha and avoid signing McTominay.

Fans will forever love him for it.

Tbf to him he probably would have been offered a bigger wage by Fulham than he gets here if they actually wanted the move and weren't just playing silly buggers. If he's staying it's because he wants to be here, although I think he'll regret it.

Will enjoy the first game Mainoo is brought on/ starts while McT warms the bench.

Is this a serious comment?
What is wrong with that comment? Guy is happy to be here and be backup of the backup. If not, he would push for a transfer like Fred did, like Elanga did or like Hendo did.

ridiculous comment. Been here since he was 14, always puts in a full shift, scored a lot of important goals for us.

Good player, have a bit of respect

He will see far more football than either of those two would have this season.

Another hilarious thread title

It must still be such a joy to be a United player, as noone wants to leave the club even if they never play.

Not sure I understand calling McT names for supposedly turning down an offer we have no idea of the content of and staying at United. There's not even the excuse he's a financial drain to the club, he is on very reasonable wages and hasn't cost millions in transfer fee.

It's a bit funny TBH

Palhinha is having his photo taken, in a Bayern kit, after passing his medical.

Phone rings.

"Erm...best take that kit off. McTominay doesn't want to go to Fulham."

FOOOOOOOOOOOK
