Scott McTominay | Transfer discussion not performance discussion

You're making fun of them until we face them in PL and their midfield dominates ours.

Why are people wanting to sell him when we're not going to replace him? What am I missing?

We're getting Amrabat anyway, so this just means our net spend is lower, the Glazers are richer, and we lose a squad rotation option, albeit a mediocre one.
Is that certain or dependent on sales? To be honest we are so bad at selling if we’re able to get decent money for a player who doesn’t have a future - I say go ahead and get it done.

Outside of popping up with the occasional goal and being a decent guy , he's so sub standard it hurts my eyes watching him.

No Mctominay for Fulham it seems :(

Clearly he was seen as nothing more than a cheap/loan option on the market this summer, while we seemed to think he was a big money asset.

A number of reports of ‘interest’, who all seemed to pursue other options once we asked for real money. West Ham came forward with an actual bid, but it was a first and final bid, which is uncommon in itself. Ince we bluffed them, they went back and got Ward Prowse, who they had tried for before and was seemingly their first choice. Fulham have preferred Hojberg, Bayern Palinha, Newcastle Tonali.

How Scott continues to survive the cull is extraordinary. Years of being poor to average have no impact if you are a youth product

Our boys are here to stay. Exciting time ahead :)

Why we would sell our best defender and midfielder when their price is still high this is not the United way.

I'm disgusted by this. The two main guys that we needed to shift this year - we failed to do so(Maguire and McTominay). At least Henderson was finally sold and De Gea released.

I understand the Maguire problem with his greed/wages - consequence of the Glazer(Woodward) Apocalypse and self-sabotaging, shambolic recruitment. But McTominay could've been sold for £25-30m as a pure profit on FFP books and replaced with a better player(Amrabat, Gravenberch...).

We should just stop taking this club seriously and care more about(save) our mental health - that's more important in life. In the end, football is just a game we watch to pass the time while waiting for our eventual death and the heat death of the universe. :)

McTominay can stay but as long as he is not a Casemiro alternative. That should be Amrabat. McTominay is competing with Bruno and Mount which is where McTominay is better anyway.

Striker.

Much as I’m not a fan, I suspect we will need him on Sunday at The Emirates against Arsenal. We could use someone who can run around a bit and knock people over in order to upset their rhythm.

Genuinely wonder if we’ll see McT picked ahead of Maguire at CB at some point this season.

Its all fun and games until he picks up a yellow card in the first 10 minutes.

Rejecting 30M has been the worst thing that's happened all summer even more than the Maguire debacle. His contract does give the club some position with demand but the most important element qualifying the value is the quality of the player and Mctomminay has no definitive qualities about him as a player except for being tall.

He's just a body in the midfield, not disciplined enough to play as a 6, he's not good enough as an 8 (Mount a number 10 was signed over him) he offers nothing.

Ed Woodward clearly still lives in the DNA of this club. Can’t wait for this to be revamped.

Exactly my thoughts, I still think he has a lot to offer as a number 8.

Casemiro and Amrabat covering the holding role, Bruno, Mount, Mctominay, Eriksen competing further forward with Mainoo getting game time in either role as an when the match suits.

In 5/6 years - when has anyone ever seen Scott have a good run as a #8? I see this on here a lot about how he ‘needs to play further forward’. Is McTominay a player Manchester United want on the ball in the final third?

McTominay's a player Manchester United shouldn't want on the pitch let alone on the ball.

I think he has played plenty of extremely good games for us and has a lot of very good attributes, some really good runs under Ole bursting forward. He has goals in him, has the ability to burst through midfield and break lines plus him being in that position in addition to a holding player would make us very solid.

I find this such a boring argument so if you don't rate him that's fine but I am not looking for a debate about it.

Was hoping Fulham would get Daniel Levy'd into making a ~£35m McT offer.

Are you saying the Glazers called up German media to get them to report on Bayern's interest in McTominay due to some kinda conspiracy? Intriguing. Tell me more.
Really, that will be the same source then that had use buying Gaitan for about 5 years in a row then. McTominay is protected in many ways.

He's had good games, but they are few are between. Games where he was running onto the play and breaking forward from midfield. Never consistently put a run of games together where he played well.

Physically he's fine. I think his technical abilities let him down, his body shape and movements aren't very fluid for playing in a possesion based midfield, He's very rigid and not quick enough on the turn and he has poor vision awareness and range of passing.

how the hell is scott mctominay still at this club? We constantly complain about players staying too long yet people still try and argue for players like scott to still be here. Shouldve taken that damn 60 mill double offer.

Feck me. I bet you're a blast at parties.
