Where have I said he should create chances, I said the team doesn't because his passing is bang average, meaning he doesn't get the ball to the danger players enough.
The difference yesterday was Fred who was far better in both defensive actions and ability on the ball. I don't even like Fred but even I can acknowledge he was much better
Also McTominay is not a DM
Also I actually do like him, I'm just pointing out the obvious which is as good as he has been, the praise needs tempering for 2 reasons.
1. He was no where near MOTM yesterday
2. He needs to seriously improve on the ball if we want to be a good side or he needs benching in future
What do you describe bang on average?
Not as if he was 100% fit yesterday either.
If you don't recognise that currently he is our best player in that midfield, his passing might not be Pogba esque but he tracks back uses his physicality too.
He needs improving on the ball? In what way? short passing? long passing?
Also he is not a DM yet has the following stats:
McTominay has won more duels (78) than any other Manchester United player this season.
most recoveries (76) among United’s squad.
McTominay has also won the most fouls (26) of any United player.
Only Aaron Wan-Bissaka has won more tackles than McTominay (18) for the Red Devils this term (Wan-Bissaka has won 43, which is absolutely insane).
Wan Bissaka is also the only player to make more interceptions than McTominay (15 vs 14).
– On the other side of the ball, only Marcus Rashford (16) has completed more dribbles than McTominay’s 15 this term.
– Only Harry Maguire (39) and Victor Lindelof (24) have won more aeriel duels than McTominay (20).
– McTominay is one of only six United players to register an assist in the Premier League to date.
