But Eto'o's delaying tactics as he tried to grab a slice of the transfer fee have forced City to look elsewhere.
City CEO Garry Cook said: "Samuel Eto'o is undoubtedly a fine footballer but the circumstances surrounding him were such that the deal could not be completed.
"We now feel the time is right to pursue other avenues and we have a clear and strategic transfer plan, which we continue to follow."
That leaves only..

I dont think SAF has a problem with bringing in players with big ego's, but nor does he have a problem getting rid of them - as Ruud and to an extent, Ronaldo, has shown (amongst others).
I reckon Eto'o would cause a lot of disharmony in the dressing room, and if SAF agrees then he wont touch the guy, regardless of history.
