Plus at the price touted in the current market he's a steal, would fit in with multiple formations and ease the work load off Fletcher.
 
Marca reporting that a deal for him to go to Real Madrid has been done at 10m.

Which I guess means that one or more Diarra will be sold.
 
Can't be 10M Arsenal would give them 20M for starters.

Edit: maybe it can since he's out of contract July 2011. He's the outfield player I would have most liked to sign from the world cup

I think he would be a good signing for Real Madrid, centre midfield is a position they need to strengthen bearing in mind the quality Barcelona possess in that area of the pitch.

Correct. Thats why we'd be best served looking for a passer of the ball in a similar mould to Scholes. Unfortunately not every good midfielder is that type of player. And in general, teams without a playmaker in midfield tend to struggle.

Agreed, I think we share a similar view that Banega could be that man, but Khedira would add a good all rounder option to our pack in place of Hargreaves, while we wait and see if anyone comes on the horizon to replace Scholes when he goes.
 
We don't need another defensive mid. We desperately need an attacking mid like a Hamsik or a Gourcuff or a Lampard. We need a playmaker.

That's gonna be a hard one. Can't think of many. Schweinsteiger has looked the part the last year or so. Xavi is out of the question and Pirlo is quite old himself. It's slim pickens in that department.
 
Bayern have reached a preliminary agreement with Khedira for next year, which he's using in negotiating woth Real for more money.

Ozil is the big unknown.

If there is any truth in any of this please tell me SAF is following proceedings closely as Khedira would be good business at 10-15mill, and isn't even the finished article.
 
£8m-ish or whatever is an absolute bargain for him, I know Madrid can easily outmuscle most in the wages department, but I don't understand why Arsenal aren't even trying for him, he'd slot in perfectly for them.
