First of all it's great to see another young english player plays so fantastic in the Premier League.

But i would wait another season before i would say "We need to sign him".
What do you know about his attitude? On the pitch he seems focused, determined and disciplined.
He had a few attitude problems according to WBA journalists.....too late for training, too late for team meetings, 2-3 brawls with players and has enjoyed a bit too much the nightlife of Birmingham.
But apparently Pulis has helped him already a lot according to them.

His drink-driving was totally stupid no doubt but it will be forgiven him if it will never happen again.

Next season he'll be at a top club. Has all the attributes you'd want in a very good striker. Personally would be happy to see United snap him up. Lad has got his head down & is getting on with his game. Yet as usual some just wish to ignore there here & now, then they can harp on about past issues...

My unqualified mind says either the next defoe or potentially a Yorke first season. OR - the next zaha.

He has far more to his game as Kane imo, he's more pacey, mobile but also more technical and can drift out wide, but Kane is by far the better box player, it depends on what you want. Rooney - Berahino imo would be better than Rooney - Kane. Berahino is like the Welbeck who can score.

I wouldn't say no but I have a feeling that he will go to Liverpool to team up with The SaS
I think going there would definitely be the best move for him. He'd be joining players very much on the same wave length.
I think his career path will be shaped by his next move. Liverpool, right now, would make a lot of sense for him. I think staying at West Brom for much longer will cause him to stagnate.

Like him a lot, was really impressed with him in past u21 England games and this season he has proven what he can do in a limited team. I think Kane is rightly getting all the hype but he plays in a much better attack minded team. I think Berahino can also be a top player at a top club and for me is a better finisher than Kane, I would rather him than all the foreign young forwards being mentioned plus he wouldn't have to 'get used to' the English game.

Berahino is quicker but that's about it. Kane is a much better passer and dribbler which is a bit surprising given he's not very quick.

There's no doubt imo that Kane is the much better player but Berahino might be hell of a lot cheaper.

Agree. I prefer Saido to Kane for the reasons mentioned here.

Berahino doesn't really dribble. He relies on brute strength and pace to get by people. As for Kane being a box striker, that's not really true. He even started the season playing wide in certain games and can dribble past full backs from those positions.

I disagree. Berahino does have more pace, but Kane is the much better striker when it comes to drifting outside of the box. I'd rather have Berahino in the box though.

Kane is the better player, but I'd rather Liverpool sign Berahino. Ideally, we don't sign either.

Rooney - Berahino imo would be better than Rooney - Kane.

I would agree with that.

As I said in the striker thread, hopefully he was there to talk to Wenger, players like him and Ings are not what we should be looking at.

I agree. Wouldn't want either of them here. There are better players out there.

Unfortunately we are going to struggle to get a top striker in their peak, like Aguero, Suarez, Neymar, etc.

Don't know why he is easily dismissed by some posters.

I think he is the exact model of player we should be going for, young, hungry, everything to prove.

This galatico type policy since Fergie left has been a massive failure.

I'd snap him up, could be a Saha type signing.

Yeah especially since the better players like Di Maria, Falcao, Mata have been so great...Berahino is likely to score something in tbe range of 25 goals this season, for a young striker who plays as 2nd striker, that's a good return.

Unlike the two posts that followed yours I wasn't suggesting buying a "Galactico" or paying shed loads. There are simply better young talents on offer than mediocrity like Berahino, and wouldn't cost more, in fact less in some cases.

Like who?

They'd be the kind of signing that have got us in the current position we are in, going for cheaper PL mid table players instead of the next level up.
But, the next level up - realistically who are we going to be able to sign from those types of club?

I'll answer both in one go, there is no next level strikers we can get, they are all already at top clubs. So we need to look at the ones on the cusp, I don't disagree with this. However Dybala, Vietto, Lacazette and Fekir are all more talented than Berahino and would be ideal as wide forwards in a proper front 3 with Rooney as the #9.

But how do you know that these are more talented than Berahino? They are largely playing in poorer leagues than him and, although I haven't checked, I doubt that they are scoring more goals

I like him and think he would be a very good signing. I have only watched the likes of Lacazette, Dybala etc on you tube and they do look good players but nothing to me suggests they are better players than Berahino who has actually proven himself in this league in a relatively poor team. He is a United fan and probably doesn't have the dreams of the foreign players about a La Liga giant being their dream destination.

I've watched a fair amount of Lacazette's games this year, but just his record will tell you how much better than Berahino he is.

I've watched a fair amount of all the players we are discussing, their games have been on TV pretty often this season, that's where I'm making my judgment from, Berahino had a purple patch when it comes to scoring, but his all round game is well behind the players I listed IMO.

26 goals in 31 apps for the current french league leaders is very good, who is to say Berahino would not have those stats if playing for a free flowing attacking team like Lyon.

18 in 35 is not too shabby in a team not known for goals or attractive football. Plus his finishes are on par, both have great technique and are comfortable scoring from outside the box.
