Much as I'm a United fan, being English and wanting by upcoming English players to do well (think we have a good bunch coming through), i wouldn't like United to sign him.
I see his future on the LW and when you look at who we have on the LW (Martial/Rashford/Sanchez), how's he going to play?
Think Spurs or Liverpool would be great for him.

Think Spurs/Liverpool would be great for him, possibly even Arsenal but they haven't been great at developing young players recent years.
I think you are right in that he is a forward player, not really a left back.
But maybe he will be too good to miss out on?
When it comes to English talents he looks close to level of Sancho and Gomes and In two, maybe three years Young will call it a day as a United player. He could be a proper backup for Shaw, even transcend above that in more advanced role.
Would hate to see overcooking this deal and him coming to Liverpool or City... not to mention Tottenham being usually spot on with some of these underwhelming English signings becoming almost a 100 million worth stars after a while.
He plays at left back because he's left footed. If he shows an aptitude for goalscoring, his best position as an attacker would probably be from the right. He could even be the man to step into Sanchez's shoes in 3 years' time, with a loan or two to tide him over till then.I think you are right in that he is a forward player, not really a left back.

Well, looks like another good argument to give him a chance as a United player. He's ahead of both imo. Doing it at senior level and proving his worth, scoring and assisting miles ahead of anyone in his bracket in both the Premier League and Championship. Sancho to his credit is starting to make progress at Dortmund, Gomes' progress has stalled. He needs to be playing senior football not stuck in our youth ranks.

I reckon Borussia won't give Sancho for cheap now, so...
Sessegnon and Sancho are both still 17 years old! Not many players at that age are at the level they are. I don't think Gomes is ready for senior football yet. Remember he will only turn 18 at the start of next season.
Below list are teenagers in Championship and Premierleague with 500+mins this Season. I've then checked out their total stats in senior football to come up with their total playing experience.
Stats come from Transfermarkt.co.uk
19 years old
18 years old
17 years old
Ryan Sessegnon / Fulham / 4258mins / 14 goals, 8 assists
Ronaldo Vieira / Leeds / 3778mins / 2 goals, 3 assists
Tom Davies / Everton / 3350mins / 2 goals, 5 assists
Ben Brereton / Nottingham Forest / 2093mins / 5 goals, 5 assists
Trent Alexander-Arnold / Liverpool / 1755mins / 3 goals, 2 assists
Keinan Davis / Aston Villa / 1455mins / 2 goals, 3 assists
Joshua Earl / Preston / 1035mins / 0 goals, 0 assists
Rúben Vinagre / Wolverhampton Wanderers / 927mins / 1 goal, 1 assist
Ike Ugbo / Barnsley / 745mins / 1 goal, 1 assist
That might put his price tag into perspective. Also, how woeful is it that in are two top leagues only 9 teenagers qualify for this list?
Ryan Sessegnon / Goal/Assist every 193.5mins
Ben Brereton / Goal/Assist every 209.3mins
Keinan Davis / Goal/Assist every 291.0mins
Trent Alexander-Arnold / Goal/Assist every 351.0mins
Ike Ugbo / Goal/Assist every 454.0mins
Rúben Vinagre / Goal/Assist every 463.5mins
Tom Davies / Goal/Assist every 478.6mins
Ronaldo Vieira / Goal/Assist every 755.6mins
Joshua Earl / N/A - no Goals/Assists
Yup. He could be just too young for a big club responsibilities for now but also from a United point of view, every team in PL needs few English players in their squad, so it's probably better to have a genuine quality even if raw rather than take gamble with players in mood of Barkley (big question mark after injury) or just promote T.Chong in couple of years as the boy looks both talented and aggressive enough. From an English point of view he'd be wasted here imo, we have too many options on the left wing as it is. Him moving to Tottenham or Liverpool would be good if he wanted to go to a top tier club. Otherwise he should go for a mid table team in the PL where he'd be guaranteed a starting spot.
From a United point of view we'd be stupid to not go for him because he's a clear talent.
Posted this 17 days ago. So it doesn't include any stats since then. But you can see how miles ahead Sessegnon is to any teenagers in England. In terms of raw senior experience nobody can be compared to him and he's the youngest player out of all of them.
Gomes may well be ready and yet he's not been loaned out and nor has he even made the bench for us. So ultimately there is no comparison between the two.
It's bad for sure. It is one of the big problems our national team faces. I look at Hudson Odoi at Chelsea and I think he is a kid who is ready for senior football, when he actually gets to play senior football I'm not sure. Kieron Dowell at Forest on loan from Everton has 10 goals for them from attacking midfield but is 20 and this is his first year playing senior football. You would have thought he should be in the seniors sooner.
The real problem is the breakdown in players moving from championship clubs to premier league clubs. Premier league clubs don't seem willing to take the risk. If premier league clubs don't sign them by 22 then the only way they get to move to a premier league side is through getting promoted. Look at Jamie vardy. What was he, 27 when he got to play in the top flight? This is ultimately the huge issue we English face. It's great we're producing talent which are winning things at youth level but the struggle is when we give these players a chance at senior level. That simply doesn't happen and we face players like Sancho having to go abroad to prove themselves because otherwise they'd stagnate at club youth level while their European counterparts are playing senior football.
Frankly, more players should follow the example of Sancho and move elsewhere, be that to foreign leagues or to Championship clubs that will promise them regular game time. If I was Gomes' agent, i'd be advising him to move away from United to a team he'll actually get to play at. I know fans will say "he's 17!". That's true, he is young, but the best talents play senior football at that age. It's vital for their development imo.
Another goal so far today.
It is his brother?
He is going to cost a bomb in the summer.
Yeah I think the majority of his goals have come when playing as a winger.Would I be right in assuming that he is playing further up the pitch? If he is scoring all these from left back then it is seriously impressive.
So you reckon we'll still be after him with Luke Shaw regaining form?
Given he he has 9 goals and 2 assists in 9 games as a attacking left player it would be kind of crazy to buy him as a left back. He is a solid left back but his future is further up the pitch.
Feel like we have a bit of a Milinkovic-Savic situation with this kid. Great talent but what chances does he have with Martial, Rashford and Alexis ahead of him?

How many English players are there even out there with his ability/potential. Don't care if we're stacked or not right now, we have to sign him.
Sessegnon and a quality CM and we're ready for next season.
It isn't just the 17s, it is the whole group that won international tournaments this summer. I think England could field 2, possibly 3, different sides capable of winning the U19 Euros this summer.
Available attacking options for that tournament alone includes Sancho, Sessegnon, Foden, Hudson-Odoi, Nelson, Mount, Gomes, Neketiah and Brewster!
