Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney | Wrexham AFC Watch

They were well beaten today apart from the last 15 minutes.

Stockport battered them first half.

I went last night to the game against Barnsley. It was like going to an England vs Wales game. Just country "banter" all night. Wrexham fans singing about hating the Royal Family and how "England fecked it up" and Barnsley fans chanting about Wales getting battered and singing England songs. Weird.

Both sets of fans also do that god awful "YOU'RE SHIT AAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHH" at goalies when they take a goal kick.

Should get playoffs at least this season but will be a battle for the automatic due to how well Wycombe are doing!

I think going up will be a huge problem for them. They're a League 1 team really for me in terms of players, budget, stadium, etc. The stadium needs a serious updating, the new stand is still not even started, and I think it'll be too many consecutive promotions for them. They'd likely come straight back down if they did go up.

You'll find this still happens at pretty much every lower league ground in the country I'm afraid. It just won't die.

Yep. I was at an U18s game last night and all the kids behind the goal were doing it, so that's a whole new generation still to come

That's not necessarily a problem though, they'd still be better off in the long run as long as they gave it a creditable go in the Championship.

I think 3 successive promotions at that level has never been achieved, so they might as well go for it.

Even if they were relegated again, it's no real harm.

I think most of their fans would be delighted even if they bounced between L1 and the Championship like other clubs do.

i think they are going to have a challenge just getting out of League 1 as there are still a lot of matches left to play and they don't have the biggest/deepest squad

they may come straight back down but in terms of the financials nad revenue....it would be a massive boost for that club

Will be interesting in the Championship if they make it, the financial regulations are a bit stricter meaning they probably couldn't just buy their way to another promotion like they have been currently.

Lots of big teams in League one though so promotion certainly isn't guaranteed this season,

They're my local team and there's a lot of buzz around Kone. Who actually just was wrongly outed as gay by one of those tiktok/YouTube documentary people.

Kone didn't ask for it to be taken down, just said that is incorrect but he's grateful his story is being spoken about.

Just read his wiki. Do you have any more info about that? Sounds strange.

It is. But all he has said is when the time is right he will speak about his story. He will be playing at a higher level soon for sure anyway and more people will want to know his story then

Completely fair enough. Hope he continues to do well for you!

Had to go google that gk chant

It’s like a car crash, it’s so bad, but I couldn’t look away - I found myself watching/listening to it quite a few times. Shameless.

I'm rooting for you guys!
Shame Wrexham won in the 93rd last night, and Birmingham are 2-0 up tonight.
However, we went away to Exeter where we usually lose, were 2-0 down on 25 and got it back to 2-2, and from 17 games 10 have been away.
But all a real surprise from the sheepish can we have a go at getting into the playoffs early season wild thoughts.

There is no way they are going up this year. Too many games so far drawn against weaker teams that they should have won. They need a better striker. They are good defensively but they can’t score enough goals.

agreed...i don't see them going up either. they might make the playoffs but they can't seem to score more than a goal a match even against the crappier teams. Mullin is struggling on top of that which doesn't help

Mullin's last spell in League One was very poor too.

Keep conceding late goals.

Still think this manager will not take them any further, his tactics are pretty basic and League One is pretty much his ceiling imo.

The guy comes across as a caveman, the show producers seem to think its entertaining. Once he's out of Wrexham though he's gonna realise its not done him any favours.

agreed....it's 352/3411 and there are no changes to it

they will clearly stay in League One so this might be the final year for him at Wrexham and they need to get younger players

Outside the auto places currently, not playing well, a few injuries to deal with.
I'm sure they'll just buy their way to another promotion though in January.

Not sure how everyone's writing them off with such certainty given the league table but you've presumably watched them and know more than me.

Parkinson seems to be given to saying disdainful things about opposition teams who "fancy themselves as a bit of a football team" so I'll believe this assessment

Agreed. They’ve been minutes away from winning two of the recent matches they ended up drawing. Five wins on the trot before that. Only Birmingham have a better record in the last 7 games.

That being said they are really struggling to score at the moment. In the last 14 games they’ve scored 15 goals. More than one goal in only three of those matches.

Nothing that an Ethan Wheatley couldn’t fix ;)

0-1 down at home against Blackpool. Playoffs is a realistic target for them and a good run of results would put them back in contention for an automatic promotion again.

Finally they win. If they go up and that’s a big if they will have to do it the hard way through the playoffs.

Would have much preferred they continued to falter obviously.

With SB's family situation I'm just pleased he's managed to get some semblance of a team back on the pitch.

Still hoping we get back to the form of his first few games and beat Wrexham in the playoffs.

They're getting at least a playoff for sure. In with a decent shout of automatic promotion. Late drama in most of their games. Wonder if they'll get a big signing in Jan to see them over the line.

Hope you're right, but they are very strong at home and are currently 2nd. Who knows what massive spending they'll do either.

My boys Wycombe are 3rd with a game in hand, but have played 4 fewer at home than away. Hoping that's a game-changer, but we've only won 1 of the last 3 at home, and that was with a 90th min cross cum fluke in job!

Ah I see you’re a Wycombe fan. I’m actually a fan of Wrexham. I want them to go up but I don’t think they are strong enough over the course of this season to actually accomplish it. So regarding finances does FFP not apply to lower league clubs?

I hate money teams coming up from nowhere and bullying teams with their money.

From what I understand league 1 and 2 don't have limits because owner donations count as "football fortune" along with cup money.
See Birmingham buying a striker for £15m up front (!) in the 3rd tier, with a sell on and another £5m in add ons!!

The championship has more scrutiny, which is why you'll constantly see teams getting into trouble.

The issue for smaller clubs is you can smash the finances in L1, but if you've got a piddly stadium / income stream you'll quickly fall foul.
Maybe Wrexham can claim they're earning 100million from their tv spinoff stuff
