One of our departures that I'll genuinely miss. He got an awful time off of a lot of our fans on here over the past two seasons or so, especially when the beloved Welbeck was sold. Good luck to him, but I would have happily kept him.

He won his first Title, earned a shit-tonne more than he would have at Arsenal and was adored by the fans even as his form fell to pieces. I'm sure he'll regret not winning more here, but I don't see him regreting the move.

I think if I was him I might have preferred a move to the MLS rather than Turkey
The only thing he'll regret is having joined Utd so late.
Far too good for the MLS, still gets to have European football and play in a decent league.

Is Fene going to be in UCL? Like confirmed to be going in the group stages already? If they are and United does too, it would be interesting to see whether the two will be drawn together in the same group, with maybe Bayern.

When something like this is reported by newspapers, it is usually a leaked by someone, otherwise the papers can be sued for damages. Transfer rumors are different, reporters can make up stuff since they do not get inside info on that.
Think it's a bit shit we've sold him... but them the brakes.

Fenerbahces European ban doesn't last in to the next season does it? Considering Galatasaray made it to the knock-out stages last year and they've added some great players in Nani and RVP it will be an interesting title race and they could both challenge to reach the knock-out stages in the Champions League next year.

For everyone who seems upset at this transfer, it's worth bearing in mind that Van Gaal and Van Persie are close - He was even his captain at the world cup.
We all saw that Van Persie was below his best last season and Van Gaal is a lot better placed than any of us to know whether that was just a blip or the beginning of the end.
What is guaranteed is that telling Van Persie he's not going to be a fixture in the 1st team this season is not something he would have taken lightly and not something he would have done if he thought it would weaken the team.

I was always a big fan of his game, even when he was an arrogant forward with an attitude who played for Arsenal. Him signing for us after that last season he had with Arsenal will always be one of my favorite transfer moves. Even though he had two subpar seasons for us after his great first season, I'm still sad to see him move on. I understand why we have sold him, but if it wasn't for his wages, I felt like he could have stayed here and still be a valuable contributor.
How do you know LVG didn't want him anymore? Maybe he got a really good offer from Fener and he decided to go?
Didn't he come out in June and say that the decision on his future will be based on Euro 2016 and that he had to be playing to be in form? He's on 250k a week at United and playing at the top of the EPL is better for your Euro 2016 prospects than playing in Turkey.

There aren't many better finishers in the game when he's on form.
