We didn’t look as open, no one can look as open as we did under ETH.
Yep. It’s a night and day difference
We didn’t look as open, no one can look as open as we did under ETH.
Good q. In my view the tactical detail … while it still (pre Amorim) underlies the approach, had become a bit onerous for the players. Rudd made training fun. I also think he benefited from the tactical structures of ETH. So kind of a free shot. Also he had a good emotional bond with players and fans. What is it that Ruud has that ETH did not? Whatever it is, it's working
He’s well known for being incredibly stubborn. Why couldn’t RVN effect this change as assistant to ETH? Or any of the other staff for that matter. Was Erik THAT resistant to input from his coaches?!
Even to the point of sealing his own fate? Surely at some point you accept it’s not working and take suggestions on how to improve? WeirdHe’s well known for being incredibly stubborn.

Grateful for the job Ruud has done while we wait for Ruben.
I love Ruud, one of my favourite ever United players, but I hate this sentimental shite that we should keep him on. The Scousers did this in the 90s when they were trying to recreate the famous "Boot Room" of the glory years. They hired Gérard Houllier as manager but kept Roy Evans on as a Co-manager because they didn't have the heart to get rid of an old Boot Room boy. Farcical.
I also hate the argument that he "could be a bridge between Amorim and the players".
F**k that! That's the last thing Amorim needs, players moaning in Ruud's ear if they're not happy with him. And if results aren't great in his first few months, the cameras scanning to Ruud's face every 2 minutes. Nah, Ruben doesn't need that.
Let Ruben and his boys come in and allow them get on with the job without any unnecessary sideshows to deal with.
I don't see the argument for letting him go. Obviously, he shouldn't be assistant coach. Amorim's right hand man should be someone he's hand picked.
But he's clearly a very experienced and well-liked member of the staff. Having Ruud working with our forwards is a blessing. Surely there aren't many that are better suited!
Ruud has said that he's happy to stay and help at Utd. If he's prepared to take on a coaching role, he should be very welcome here
We have a history of interim managers doing well, and when the new manager comes in the players revert to being idiots again. Fingers crossed it’ll be different this time.Like our recent history with new managers, Ruud's immediate results have been good and he couldnt have done a lot more. Should continue when Amorim comes in and also does well as the new manager
After that? Then we'll see.

I think its a bit longer than that. Mourinho, Solskjaer and ETH all managed a good finish in the league. The problem was that they all fell off a cliff afterwards to the point where doing well at a previous point didnt matter anymore and we were forced to change.
If it follows the same pattern again Amorim will come in and do well with the previous regime's players and first or second season get us back in the top 4 and then when he has hundreds of millions of £ to sign his own players we'll struggle. Thats the current pattern.
I like Ruud but if he’s that great with the strikers surely they would improve this season? It’s our weakest area on the pitch.
In fairness to OGS - it took him well over 2 full season to fall off a cliff
We know he took over "offensive automation" training in pre season, but can only assume whether or not that was his remit in the campaign. I'd assume so, but he also has shit to work with. We created a lot more chances than our goal tally suggested.I don't think we can know, really. Was RVN even working with the strikers? Even if he was, it's a pretty small sample size as we only have two, both young, one just arrived and isn't a natural striker and the other missed a big part of the summer and of the start of the season through injury.
At the same time, I also don't buy into the idea that RVN would be a good striker's coach just because he was a good striker.
We don’t nearly look as open than we did under Ten Hag. No way.I think a lot of perspectives have been coloured by the good results we've had, for me Ruud has been a continuation of Ten Hag; we look just as open and vulnerable, the main difference is that we've been able to take our chances a bit better, particularly the lower percentage ones from outside and around the penalty area.
AgreedAmorim needs to start a fresh. He will be bringing in his own coaching staff. If he finds a place for Ruud, I feel it will be forced and potentially upset the way he and his team want to work.
Best to led Ruud move on and hopefully get himself a managerial job.
To me it reads like hel relieve RvN of his duties.
We didn’t look as open, no one can look as open as we did under ETH.

Good results tend to do that and putting some trust in players like Amad and Ugarte is hardly a continuation of Ten Hag.
