Ruud van Nistelrooy | Leaves United

He's been great.

Who will be the next United legend to be given the caretaker role?

Unbeaten!

It really makes you wonder what he could achieve if given until the end of the season to prove himself. Still, it's time to look forward to a new era under Amorim.

Huge credit to Ruud for his efforts!
Results were better than performances imo. PAOK at home is a game United should be winning but it wasn't exactly great performance. Leicester today wasn't that great, but obviously good result. Chelsea 1-1 at home was deserved draw though Chelsea were bit better imo.

Have no complaints about Ruud's short tenure but think he'd struggle as season progressed.

10 out of 12 points and conducted himself very well. Suspect he would have us in the top four before too long if he stayed longer (not a particularly impossible feat given we’re only 4 points off fourth right now).

All things said it’s been a great stint for Ruud.

Thank you Ruud. Handled the entire situation with class and has left in a good position. Could've had all wins if our attackers were clinical against Chelsea. I really liked how he didn't mess about with the subs today. Gave Rashford and Dalot 5 mins in the second half, didn't improve, so off they went. That's the kind of accountability you want in a manager.

Felt a way on how he left as he was one of my favourite players at the time but he's now more than redeemed himself. Sounds like he's matured loads and he's a smart man manager and coach. Wouldn't mind him back after the Amorim era...

I actually think this is great. He's gotten a taste of what being the United manager is like. Let him go out and hone his skills as the main man somewhere else, and when the time comes that we need to look for a new manager, we see how he's doing

Thanks Ruud, you could see the improvement over Eth.
Got us out of our negative goal difference and won 3/4 games

Done his chances of another top job no harm at all.

Good interim from him. 10/12 only lost points to chelski.

Hope he gets a good no.1 job elsewhere now. He seems like the kind of manager that works well with top teams though - can’t see him at a West Ham etc.

Fantastic ovation from Stretford End as Ruud walked off, well earned and showed he will always be a legend at Utd. Huge thanks for steering the team away from the negativity surrounding ETH tenure, Amorim would be pleased he is at least inheriting a squad ina positive mindset. Thanks Ruud, hope you find a job with a good club soon, I'm sure you'll do well.

Hope he stays in England.
I like his "don't feck with me" attitude. Dalot, Rashford played like they didn't care and got fecked by half time, deservedly. Garnacho benched after his bullshit performance against Chelsea. etc... Play like you really want to be at Manchester United or get out.

Some of these players don't deserve clean plate when new manager comes in. Amorim should definitely learn this simple principle asap if he want to survive here.

You're probably right.

Role on Amorim!

Thanks Ruud, job done. Hopefully this is enough for him to land a job somewhere else and maybe we will see him back as manager one day.

Love RVN , infectious personality 3 wins and draw not bad, but the new guy needs clean slate, D Fletcher can go definitely, only thing RVN may get is a coaching role and a small part maybe a listening ear to some of the players.

We've seen before though these players can throw people like RVN under the bus. I think for his own progress he should go. And imo I think he will.

Came in and did the job needed of him. Fan favourite as a player and you can see the affection from the crowd for what he did. Would love to see him back one day but needs more experience to take this role on I think.

To be continued...

Legend.

Just goes to show how we absolutely wasted the last 12+ months before ETH was sacked. Don't need to reinvent the wheel to get better performances and results out of this squad.

Just feel sad for Ole. Legend and such a lovely guy. Had a chance to walk away head held high. But anyway bygones be bygones.

Ruud, Ole, etc. are legends and will remain so regardless. Respect.

can’t help but feel him setting up the team in a way more balanced way than ten hag was designed to make him look good and increase the likelihood of another club wanting to hire him.

Way to good to be a staffer at United. Go out and get a proper manager gig he looks the part.

He did well. Loved watching him on the sidelines this season. Although, it was the right decision to go for a permanent manager and not go the Ole route again & then let emotions take over good sense.

I also not comfortable with him staying as one of Amo's assistants. He has openly talked about his desire to take over the job one day and if he stays then that'll become the news as soon as things go a little awry under Amo.

Well done Ruud

Deserves a decent managerial job he’s good enough

Just for the record I was tipping him on here to be interim last season when the pressure was on ETH!

Probably. We’d all do the same. But also setting the team up to be more balanced and suit the profiles of the first team squad is what most normal managers would do.

Best case scenario for him. Took charge of 4 home games, 3 of them pretty easy. Gets to leave in high regard instead of lasting longer and eventually being called a fraud and a coward by half the fanbase.

good to see most of the players put an honest shift in, playing for each with a little bit of creative freedom.

Im in two minds whether I want Ruud to stay. On the one hand a brand new coaching set up and a complete clean slate would not be a bad thing. Then on the other, I think Ruud has the profile and is young enough to command respect from the young players in the squad. Would be a good link from Utd's past to Utd's future.

Either way, conducted himself brilliantly

Many thanks to Ruud for the last few weeks. I hope there’s a position for him at the club going forward. If not, all the very best and hopefully we’ll see you back here one day.

When’s the last time we scored 11 goals in 4 games under Ten Hag? (excluding the Barnsley game)

Like our recent history with new managers, Ruud's immediate results have been good and he couldnt have done a lot more. Should continue when Amorim comes in and also does well as the new manager

After that? Then we'll see.

Looks absolutely great in that coat. Might fancy a new job elsewhere but I htink Amorim might actually keep him and they can build a strong relationship. Why remove somehting which is working. The chances Ruud learns something here being in United environment are high, so why take a job in a smaller club. It is not like his CV is all that strong to start coaching a top/mid tier team in one of the top leagues.

He can easily leave from United after a season or two if things go well. Pressure off him now

People wonder why some of us were so angry when people were asking for more time. It's amazing what happens when you set a team of good players up properly and play to their strengths. Ruud's only had the players a couple of weeks and we already look better, hopefully Amorim can get them organised and we can get back in the top 4 by Christmas.

We wasted an entire year on that joker.
