Russian invasion of Ukraine | Fewer tweets, more discussion

Yes if it’s true, it would result in total capitulation from Russia in this war no two ways about it. There’s no coming back from this one.
The command structure and best troops and material are likely mostly already across the river. Many that remain are just mobik bullet sponges. They already prepared defenses on the left bank and deeper lines of defense elsewhere.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves...

I think a lot of the troops and equipment that where stationed around Kherson are already on the other side of the river, there have been reports for at least 2 weeks of Russian equipment being pulled away from the front lines in the area. My guess is that the only ones left in the city are the rear guard that where manning the defensive lines outside the city to protect the retreat. This is probably still quite a large amount of troops but not enough to make the Russians surrender.
Yup, if Russians were competent.

Fantastic news on the face of it. God that
pantomime statement seems to be so false though. Why telegraph the retreat before it happens?
Makes no sense to me.

Wouldn't surprise anybody if they've mined the streets and or plan to bomb the city into rubble once the Ukrainian Army have entered.

So its safe to say that the Russians are not mounting a counterattack any time soon, huh?

As speculated overnight.

I don't think it was likely Ukrainians would have crossed that bridge anyway, it's just a recipe for disaster. Any attempt to liberate territories in southern Kherson would need to be done from the direction of Melitopol IMO.

There were other means to stop that cnut. West didnt always view him in the same way how they did before NATO bombing, one day good guy, tomorrow bad, he must have change lul.

He and his familiy always were pricks, just one day he was good fit in the eyes of the west and not so much in the other, so spare me with whole im/moral good/wrong bullshit.

Its not you who were 15 year old back then and had to carry your grandma on your back towards hills when NATO was bombing my town for the first time, i was living in basement with my family for 2 months, no bed, just matresses on the ground with blankets, getting light from car battery because we didnt have always power.

This morning few hours ago my dad died. Directly from PTSP and he already lost one leg (after Vukovar when you raped and killed everyone).

But you had to carry your grandma... And you lived in a basement? It is feckin hilarous comparing to what you did to everyone for around 4 years... You bombed the whole city for 3 months and then when you finally went in sing a song for the families that were in a hospital (there will be blood, there will be blood, we will kill Croats). But that is not all. Imagine how feckin stupid the whole country was when they think they didn't deserve it and thar NATO was bombarding you and without your fault.

And this is how Ukranians will feel.

Btw. if he this gent responds in any logical way (because I will not post anymore) this is the day they enter the city finally.

We will never forget. Ever.

So sorry about your loss, take care of yourself mate.

Going to be lots of people out on the streets, hope Russia isn’t planning anything!

What’s the next target for Ukraine here? Obviously they’d love to cut the land bridge and put pressure on Mariupol but is that at all feasible?

I think the next strike will come in the north eastern part or Luhansk axis as Russia will be pushed to pre 2022 lines there.

Seen it mooted that Melitpol or something west of Mariupol is a more realistic target in the south. Not going to pretend to know all the reasons why, but I am guessing generally the further west the more difficult Russia’s already strained logistics get. Mariupol is too close to resupply and their left flank would be exposed to constant fire, and currently Ukraine is struggling in Pavlivka, Donetsk (that is a name to keep an eye on even though it’s small).

And of course there is northern Luhansk. Russia’s glorious defensive line constructions basically ignored it.

What a pointless war this has been so far. Barring tactical nukes, Russia has lost. 100.000 dead or wounded is staggering considering the length if the war. Of course Ukraine is destroyed more than Russia, but they have handled it bravely and superbly. Somewhat scary to think about how we go from here. Putin cannot be treated any differently than the fascist dictators of the recent past.

I just want to highlight how professional Ukrainian liberation has been so far with minimal damage to the cities/towns compared to Russian way of advancing through leveling everything to the ground.

Pavlivka is probably one of the most important objectives for the Russians right now, the city itself is not of any major importance, it's the the Ukrainian artillery positions in the area that the Russians needs to push back. Ukrainian artillery currently have fire control over the railway line that goes through Volnovakha 25 km to the south. After the attack on the Kerch bridge this railway line has become the last one leading directly to Zaporizhzhia Oblast and Kherson Oblast from Russian occupied areas.
