Russian invasion of Ukraine | Fewer tweets, more discussion

Kind of amazing anyone still opens their mouth in Russia to say anything but Putin authorized statements in public.

RIP, brave of them all to take a stand.
It was in the first days of March when anti-war statements weren’t criminalized yet. It’s still a brave move though.

Had a long Whatsapp talk with 2 friends who have a 'Russia was provoked into the war' stance.

Its so tiresome. Have only myself to blame. But its a stance shared by a lot of people.

Ah, okay I remember that. Interesting Putin waited a while to kill him. Perhaps he made further moves internally that resulted in his murder, and the letter wasn't the cause.

You got to give it to Russia. Deadly assasinations, poisoning people, using radioactivity to kill people, people falling through a hospital window - normally you would see that in expensive Hollywood movies and think "that's a tad unrealistic"

We even have a term for it in filmmaking here - “suspension of disbelief”.

They even have a startup challenge for inventing novel ways to kill people. no

The US gave Ukraine advice about the offensive.

Washington(CNN)

In the buildup to the current Ukrainian counteroffensive, the US urged Kyiv to keep the operation limited in both its objectives and its geography to avoid getting overextended and bogged down on multiple fronts, multiple US and western officials and Ukrainian sources tell CNN.

Those discussions involved engaging in "war-gaming" with Kyiv, the sources said -- analytical exercises that were intended to help the Ukrainian forces understand what force levels they would need to muster to be successful in different scenarios.

The Ukrainians were initially considering a broader counteroffensive, but narrowed their mission to the south, in the Kherson region, in recent weeks, US and Ukrainian officials said.

Highly dubious given that its Kadyrov himself saying it. On the other hand, on the off chance Putin is telling him to retire, it could mean that he is seeking to reduce Ramzan's power should the shit hit the fan throughout Russia where various actors like Kadyrov may be incentivized to seize power.

First rat to flee the sinking ship?

This one will stay on board until the end. He probably wants something new, rumors are that he may be eyeing a ruling position at Rosgvardia. Still, even if he goes through with it (this isn’t the first time when he “threatens” to leave), he’s still going to be a de-facto ruler of Chechnya.

No way is Putin going to try and replace Kadyrov in the middle of a failing military campaign. Chechnya gives him tons of fighting personnel and he can always be sure in Kadyrov as far as he gives Kadyrov what he wants (autonomy and money). Trying to replace Kadyrov, who is an even more ruthless autocratic dictator integrated in every sphere of life in Chechnya than Putin is in Russia, is a suicide — he’ll get a Third Chechen War as a bonus to the Ukrainian front.

Oddly enough that would be a convenient excuse to pull from Ukraine.

Kadyrov just recognized the pipeline of talent at his disposal, saw a young Stalin among his ranks, and he wants to do what's worst for the world. It's like selling RVN to allow Ronaldo to shine.
